Midgard - Shoreline

Description

A nice view of the ocean and the sky. Here we have the first artwork with Octurkeys, medium sized fliers that slightly ressemble turkeys. There are also large herbivores and a Slimer looking down at them.

All animals on Midgard are hexapods. The limbs have evolved either from fins or tentacles. Wings for example have evolved directly from tentacles, and have grown solid hair like structure for flight surface, like a broom.

One can also see here that the way mouths are made strongly differs from creature to creature. Some animals like the Octurkeys have four hooks on the outside used to snag prey, while the herbivores for example grab hold of plants and bite onto them with their second jaws.

May 26th 2010: This used to be one of my favourite submissions, but lately I've spotted a few mistakes. Here Odin is incorrectly shaded vertically in the sky, while based on where the ocean is located on Midgard, it should be horizontally. Well this was one of my old drawings afterall, it shows where I have improved. Maybe I'll make more artworks of Midgard to make up for it.

June 6th 2010: Hexabisons are social herbivores that travel in large herds, in a constant search for vegetation in the desert. The herd includes many males and females and rival males headbutt each other for domination of the herd. Hexabisons don't have too strong of a social bond, and if a member of the herd is sick or injured and falls behind, it is usually abandonned by the others. However, even if only the alpha male is allowed to breed, all males are willing to protect his young from predators.
