Chaga the Shaman

Character concept for class as part of our "dream game" pitch project.

At first I went for a steampunk western cowboys vs indians motif, but I thought it was overdone and went with a rendition of the Aztec/Mayan/Incas vs the Spanish.

This is Chaga, a boy from the fictional Chataurgamur tribe who by village customs became its shaman guardian. He came back from his rite of passage to find his home reduced to rubble and his fellow villagers kidnapped by the gold-hungry Conquistadores.

The relics stolen from tribunal shrines caused the local gods to run amok and lay waste to the land.

The neighbouring tribes who came to trade in the village mistook him for the culprit and exiled him to the perilous jungle of doom to atone for his crimes.

Donning the mask of Coatlicue, the goddess of earth, Chaga makes it his mission to recover the relics, restore the land, and rescue his people from becoming the enemy's sacrifice in the forbidden rite of immortality.
