Description

You are never given a dream without also being given the power to make it true. You may have to work for it, however. -Richard Bach

This is dedicated to the power within all of us to make our dreams come true, whatever they may be. And getting this done is literally a dream come true for me. This is my first “all new” piece of art after several years of intense meditation to work through some very challenging personal issues. I’ve wanted to get good at digital art ever since work was just beginning to be done with Photoshop. Finding Deviant Art, learning how to use Corel Painter, and finishing this has been one of the most amazing things in my life.

The Power of Creation
4098 x 5535
Corel Paintshop and Painter 11.
Around 100 hours of time (as I get better and better, the time it takes to do a work like this drops dramatically. I could probably do something like this in about 60 hours now (2011)

Also, I’m just really happy with the way this piece turned out! But at the same time I’m aware of how much amazing art is out there and how much better I can become. It’s all a process though, and this is my first “All digital” piece. Gotta start somewhere, things are what they are.

Hopefully I didn’t go too overboard with the detail . . . we’ll see what people think . . . and I would love to here what you think as well!

Edit: Fixed "tear" in the bottom left hand corner.

2nd Edit: People weren't getting the whole "galaxy coming out of the womb thing" so I changed it to just a general glowing effect. And I ended up really liking it a lot better because I think it lets the viewer's eye go more easily to her face. Which in the end, is how I wanted it to be anyway.

To see the "first final" version in my scrapbook here: steveallredart.deviantart.com/…

edit 4/16/11: So I got some really good advice on how to make this piece better, so I went back and re-painted a few things. I've gotten so much better. . .

I still want to make this piece better too. . . I really want to get good at space art. Once I do, I'll have to come back to this and make it look like she's ACTUALLY in space, the way I originally wanted.
