EDIT 2011: And another one that wasn't very cooperative. My mares must be much more shy than my studs. xD Eventually I got her, though her croup is a bit higher than I'd have liked (she is supposed to be tall in the hind, but I may have overdone it).

Hurr hurr, I went and looked up Prince of Mirkwood's entire pedigree.

Elf spent the first year of her retirement in therapy for the tendon injury that first occurred halfway through her four-year-old racing season. It turns out we were wise to take her from the track, for no sooner had she been turned out with the broodmares than it flared up again. She's been visited regularly by an equine physiotherapist since, and the tendon and muscles surrounding it have strengthened considerably. She'll be ready to breed as a six-year-old.

In other news, Leif survived the surgery to set his shattered cannon bone, but is not responding well to conventional recovery therapies because some of the cartilage in his knee was crushed and such tissue cannot be naturally regrown. His only chance at a pain-free life is in stem-cell injection therapy, which is expensive, but the only option at this point. Further bulletins will follow.
