Kimona Wrap

Description

This seems to have been the start of the nigh-violent creative burst that's hit me the past week or two - I have no idea what caused it, but I'm still going strong with new ideas and revamps on old one (so expect to see quite a few submissions this week as I photograph everything ^^)

The lovely ~MedeaHiasobi is modeling my latest "Kimona" wrap dress/top. I kept thinking that I needed something to show under some of the kimono-fabric corsets I've been meaning to photograph. But, I didn't want an actual kimono, or did I want a Wa-Loli outfit.

 Inspirations from DeviantART

The way that the hem folds, and, when looking at old wood-block prints of ukiyo-e style geisha, I knew I had to try to do something like that.

The original one is in my size, but, since you all know about me and cameras, I had to remake it to fit ~MedeaHiasobi (also, since the red was meant to go specifically with one corset I'll be uploading shortly) and I perfected the pattern!

It is all out of a medium weight knit, and a heavily modified kimono top. It is a wrap, so the ties wrap around the body to keep it closed, and the swags are hand draped in place to be sure that it actually lays perfectly each time.

Oh, and I have to mention this: there is a bound buttonhole in knit on this beast. Why? Because I didn't just want to topstitch something down, or leave a fugally slit in the side to pull the ties through. I think that I am insane, but still. It looks nice. :faint:

:star: If you are interested, I currently have the first few of these on commission through my Etsy storefront at an incredible sale, custom made to you in whatever color you desire.

I remember seeing this years ago on Etsy. It sat in my wishlist, calling out to me. I was sad the day it disappeared, but am happy to have found its wonderful creator here on Deviant. I love your tutorials, and hope to gather the courage to one day attempt one of them. Keep up the amazing work!
