Homecoming Part 1

Roth lay on his back staring at the bottom of the top bunk, trying to get to sleep for the next day.  The lump above him shifted and his brother's head popped down from above.

"Come on Roth, it's your senior year, and you've never been to a school function yet!?!"

"Zack, why do I care?  Everybody in that place hates me anyways."  Roth lay on his bed, his huge twin striped tail draped off the side and lay on the floor.

Zack's tail twitched.  "Well, not everyone hates you, I love you big bro..." a smirk split his muzzle.

Roth blinked.  "Well, isn't that a huge consolation..."  he rolled over, covering his head with his tail.

"You know that she will be there, if you never go to a dance, there's no way you'll ever see her outside of class..."

"That's the key word, runt, dance.  She will have a date with her, I think he might take offense if a random individual came up and asked her to dance..."

"That's the genius of this weekend, big bro, since this is a celebration of our championship, she won't have an official date, she'll be there with the rest of the cheerleading squad as part of that team."

"The sacred cows of football will be there too, somehow I think they will all be spoken for."

"Not necessarily, Half the female population will be there looking for their slab of football beefcake, you will still have a chance."

Zack could see Roth's nostrils flare as he heaved a heavy sigh.  He rolled back into his place, if he could just get his older brother to unwind just a bit.  If only the other kids would realize that Roth  really was a great guy...
