H-E Fusion Core

So here is the very thing keeping Amelia alive and is a constant reminder of her cybernetic body, the Hydrogen-Electrolyte Fusion Core.

The Fusion core is a Hydrogen-Electrolyte Cardiopulmonary Superconductor/ power generator made of Highly tempered Titanium Carbide/steel alloy that utilizes a unique respiration energy system that allowed Amelia's lungs and power requirements to be met and not hampered with an external power source or extra wiring and implants, reducing mobility. This unique system is also the reason that her weapons can be used without creating a power discharge or burst in electrical continuity that would render her cybernetic implants useless.

A synthetic replacement for the heart remains one of the long-sought holy grails of modern medicine. The obvious benefit of a functional artificial heart would be to lower the need for heart transplants, because the demand for organs always greatly exceeds supply.

Although the heart is conceptually simple (basically a muscle that functions as a pump), it embodies subtleties that defy straightforward emulation with synthetic materials and power supplies. Consequences of these issues include severe foreign-body rejection and external batteries that limit patient mobility. These complications limited the lifespan of early recipients to hours or days.
However, the Fusion core was the product of years of research and development to overcome such problems.

The Fusion Core is in short, a Cardiopulmonary bypass, an artificial heart, an artifical pacemaker, and a power source all in one.

The core runs on the fusion of hydrogen, fused with unknown metals and elements to mix with oxygen and electrolyte to create a Hydrogen-oxygen infused "blood" that runs throughout Amelias' body to provide the power source and oxygen for her cybernetics and organs to function properly. The core can produce nearly 1.5 gigawatts of energy (1,500,000,000 watts) per minute, which can run a heart for nearly 150 lifetimes. However the extra energy is used in other means, such as recharging weapons, supporting life functions, etc....

However , to allow the Core to work, it required that the subject veins and nervous systems augumented, or replaced with toughened artificial blood viens in order to cope with the high energy output and the possible risk of radiation leak or internal "burning" of the flesh if the "blood" is spilled; but due to Amelia having augmented implants that protected vital organs and electronics, the risk of "burning" is less likely to happen. But if a leak should occur, the power core would immediately shut down the blood flow and would switch over to a secondary power source and would have a secondary blood vein system activated, however, the emergency power source only lasts for a few days before becoming depleted.

This is another surgery need that would be used in Amelia's 15 years of torture.

As it gave Amelia a new lease on life, it still gave a constant reminder of her new "body" and that even though she is alive, she is already dead to the world and is cut off from it.

The design of the Fusion Core was inspired by Tony Stark's Arc Reactor and various power appliances and artificial hearts such as the [link](Jarvik 7) and others I may have missed.

I also wanted to give something that symbolised her being alive, but at the same time, cold and mechanical, and so this came up in mind.
