Great tutorial! Thanx! Will try it with my plate armour. What I did to control the heat problem is to sew an undercoat (gambeson) of "breathable" (lets air through) fabric and only pad the parts where the armour really touches the upper body (namely shoulders, collar & breastbone). One result is that I get the benefits of any moving air that comes my way. Second is the quick-drying of the "gambeson" between battles. This construction makes me able to keep going where other plate-wearers have to stop.
