August 21st,
Diary, it is getting late. The hunger is tearing me apart. I must kill that old lady; but I'm just falling apart. My stomach hurts. My eyes burn and the headache I have won't go away. I feel like I am slowly become him. When I look in the mirror, he smiles back at me. When I fall asleep, he forces me stay up. He won't let me eat; he won't let me do anything but write.
My fingers are dripping in blood. My eyes are dripping with tears. My head is dripping in sweat. My mind is dripping with insanity. The walls drip with words.
I know everything. I feel everything. I don't know when this started but it must have been when he killed Sarah. I broke into two people. At first I was the innocent one until he slowly forced his hunger into my mind. Over the years I controlled it pretty well. I only killed two women in college. After that it was usually wives or young single women who had easy routines. I killed them to keep him and his hunger back.
I knew one day I would get caught, I never really tried to stop it. I think wanted to get caught but I never did. I'm a murderer. His hunger has finally devoured me. I'm the monster, not him. He only killed Sarah. I killed all the others.
The old lady will die and so will I. Only the hunger will be left.

Incident type: Homicide
Date: 8/21/88
Time: 2030
Reported by: Officer Jonathan Bradley
Employee Number: 345467
Supervisor: Jerry Montgomery
Unit: 49
Investigative / Crime Scene Summary Report:
On 8/21/88 at or around 2030 hrs I responded to 614 Huckle Lane in reference to a homicide.
9-1-1/Dispatch advised the female caller, identified as Vanessa Geller (witness), reporting that she witnessed a murder. Geller stated she walked up the stairs on the third floor and saw a cigarette burning a hole in front of Telez Murphy's apartment, apartment 32. Her phone call was cut off before more information was given.
Upon arrival, myself and Officer Milton Shandley, slowly proceeded up the stairs with our firearms drawn. The lights in the building were out. The only light came from the windows at each end of the hall. We approached the apartment and called out to Geller. We were told that all the occupants were still in the building. We called out to Murphy but got no reply. We entered the apartment and found Murphy's body lying on the floor with no pulse or life signs. We proceeded to check the other apartments before sending up a medical crew.
9-1-1-/Dispatch informed us that Geller was in apartment 34. We stated our presence and got no response. We heard a loud thud across the hall in apartment 33. We approached the door. Officer Shandley knocked and called out our presence. The door was unlocked and we made our way into the room.
The floor was littered with paper and there was writing all over the walls and windows. A woman, later identified as Geller, lay on the floor. Todd Casil (suspect) hunched over a table writing furiously into a book. We called several times to him, but he didn't respond till Officer Shandley grabbed his left arm. He turned and put a pencil through Officer Shadley's neck. I fired my weapon twice into his chest. I called for backup and a medical team. I approached Casil's body.
I was knocked unconscious and when I woke a member of the medical team stared back at me. The rest of the medical team surrounded Officer Shandley. Geller and Casil were both missing.

Flutterings
It hurted.
My stomach was hurting for days. Mama said it was probably ulcer or maybe my drinking of so much Coke. But I ate and I ate and never drank Coke, and still my stomach hurted. Even if Mama went to the place where herbal plants grow to get a bunch of leaves so that she could squish them and put them in my drink, my stomach didn't stop hurting.
Papa said it was time to call the doctor, so he put on his funny straw hat and went to call the doctor. And when he came back, there was a funny-looking man that followed him into our little house. He had long kinky hair with white stuff in it and when he smiled he had very few teeth. His skin

Chemical Attractions, Part I
We can learn a lot from salt.
The chlorine atom is fundamentally lacking, longing to fill that gaping hole in its valence shell, and those bright bits of energy dancing in amorphous clouds around a sodium atom are just too tempting for the poor chlorine to resist. Chlorine probably knows that it has no claim to those electrons. It might lie awake at night for days or weeks in a fit of conscience, seeking alternatives before sending out tentative feelers and inviting Sodium to join it for coffee... It's a romantic comedy in minature, and I think that we can skip over the montage of dates and dinners and late nights on the couch in front of a

I Used To Be A Fox
To be a fox again, slender was my frame for once in my adult years,
the fat of my gluttony shed for a moment, like the athletic child I'd been.
Still, so hungry I bit and bat at the terrified rabbits, snapping a neck,
and so I began to eat a dear old friend of mine, none the wiser, poor Julia.
On the eve of our downfall, the cities stopped their incessant buzzing,
Rockets froze in the air, vapour and fire became a beautiful thing.
Some tired, bored creator, caught in a moment of whimsy,
Shifted our souls from one thing to the next, a wonderful game it must have been.
As a grasshopper, I perched on a tear in a paper door, playing my n

Grammar note: "...I am slowly become him." ---> "...I am slowly becoming him."
I like the opening reflection that the Madman does of himself, Todd. It's got some pretty good depth to it.
"Todd Casil (suspect) hunched over a table writing furiously into a book. We called several times to him, but he didn't respond till Officer Shandley grabbed his left arm. He turned and put a pencil through Officer Shadley's neck." Holy shit!
"Operator: Police operator 92292, what is your emergency?
Vanessa Geller: The old lady is dead.
Operator: I need you to calm down. Where are you?" <-- for someone who just witnessed a murder Geller doesn't sound very...riled up so the Operator's direction for her to calm down seems displaced.
This might be dumb but I just realize the reason the killing hunger arises is because of Todd's desire after seeing green eyes like Sarah's, not from anything the conscious speaker experienced...I still wonder why Sarah was killed by the alter ego.
Ooooh, I see what the clues were for *smacks forehead*
This is interesting and well built up with tension; I want to know what Todd wrote and where he took Vanessa.
