   Metal Lyrics Chapter 1

My eyes stung as I gazed out the window at the world passing by. The cold wind in my face told me that I was going to need to keep my coat for a while longer. The sky was gray and lifeless, and the ground was covered in a thin layer of frost. But I was used to this weather, I was born in the north, but I hadn't been there in nearly three years.

Chug, chug, chug, chug.... I listened to the train as I was lost in thought. The cool breeze on my face calmed me and made me feel less motion sick.

"Excuse me Miss, would you mind closing the window please?"

A man with a thick jacket, dark hair, and glasses was giving me a skeptical look. He was in the seat in the next isle. With the mood I was in I was tempted to slam the window shut and glare at him. But instead I replied with, "Sorry Sir," and silently shut the window with a click.

But as I sat back down the spectacled man gasped. He had caught a glimpse of my metal hands, and with unexpected embarrassment, I hid my hands by crossing my arms. I turned away and tired to ignore the infuriating man, and I returned to staring back out the now closed window.

My mood had just went from grumpy to angry. I didn't like it when people found out about my automail arms, and I now felt nervous about seeing my automail mechanic in Rushvalley. I was all on my own, it was just me my alchemy and my carving skills. My family had been separated and I mostly blamed myself. Now all that was left of my family was me and my two brothers. But I could never face them again, not after the accident I caused.

I sighed and pulled out my mother's old state alchemist watch to see what time it was. I ignored the strange markings on the inside and saw that it was a quarter to three. I couldn't wait another minute to get off the train.

Suddenly,  I found the spectacled man sitting in the seat across from me, and I slipped the watch away just in time.

I looked at him, and he looked at me, and we stared awkwardly like that for a while. I planned on scaring him away with my serious expression, but that wasn't working. He wasn't even saying anything! He was just staring!

I switched from serious to a glare and said, "I'm not reopening the window if that's what you want."

The man suddenly stood and swooped me up in a flurry of excitement. "Liitle Li!!!" He shouted in a sudden burst of joy.

"Aaaaaagh!!" I manage to say in reply as all the air whooshed out of my lungs. The other passengers on the train all turned to see what the commotion was about.

"It's you!" He said as he plopped me back on my feet, his hands still on my shoulders.

  "What the-"

"Little Li! You're not so little now! I bet they even call you by your full name now! What was it...? Liryka? Yes! Wow you've grown so much! How are you?! How's your family?! What are you doing here?!"

During the whole one sided interrogation he had sat me down with his arm around my shoulders.

"What no answers huh? Oh I bet you even have a boyfriend now! How old are you? Oh never mind that! I bet you wanna see your new favorite cousin!!"

     Cousin?! Who was this guy?

He went digging through his pockets and magically pulled out a picture thrusting into my face.

"This is my beautiful daughter Alicia! Isn't she just adorable?! It's official! Someday she'll be the most gorgeous women on earth! ... Second to my wife of course."

At that moment his bright eyes, angular features, black hair, and insane amount of joy all came back to me. "Uncle Maes?" I asked dazed.

"Wow Li! You don't recognize your own uncle? I guess I haven't seen you since..." His voice trailed off, but I knew what he was going to say. 'Since your mom's funeral.' But I pretended not to notice the mention of her. "Anyway!" He continued, " You haven't answered any of my questions! How are you?!"

I tried to think of a reply but I was uneasy with the sudden explosive relative I had sitting next to me. "Well uh, I'm on my way to Rushvalley  to-"

"Oh Rushvalley huh? Wait, isn't that family of yours automail mechanics?" His face suddenly went serious. "I heard what happened."

I turned my face away from Uncle Maes, "I don't need them... I'm on my own." Suddenly it was quiet again.

Chug, chug, chug..... I wished I had chosen better words.

Uncle turned and made a gesture with his hands showing that he wanted to maintain the peace. "Well, your choice is your choice Li."

I looked at him and raised an eyebrow. "Well, whether it is or isn't... I'm still on my own."I wanted to punch myself in the face for the emotion I had just shown. But I continued to stare at the empty gray sky.

"Not completely," Sad Uncle, who was now staring at the ceiling. The train was coming to a stop. "You can always visit your favorite uncle in central! Just drop by anytime! Gracia and Alicia would love you!"

"Heh..." I pulled my jacket closer and my metal arms clinked from the movement, I sighed and stood up looking down at him as the train stopped. "Just might Uncle Maes." I said, and I continued on to Rushvalley.
Heeeeh ^^; I made a fanfic! *Still making* this is only chapter 1.

Ok, so Li is a 16 year old girl all on her own, and she slowly gets wraped up in the whole FMA story. (Eventually).

-Pointer, ideas, advice appreciated*
