Description

Commission for :icontheboneyard: , Prince Zuko from " Avatar, the Last Airbender". It has been told me to make a figure inspired to Aang and Zuko's Dragon Dance so I tried to make something a bit more dynamic than usual. It took a long time to complete it but I'm really satisfied with this figure! (I also made Zuko with twistable head ;P )
This is *TheBoneYard's drawing that has been my main referece: (cool drawing, among other things)

I commissioned this piece, and this artist was extremely easy to work with and had such great ideas and suggestions, I believe she really took this far. I feel that the movement in this piece is very impacting and judging by these views, if you have the piece in front of you and turn it slowly it almost has its own form of animation to it. Anyone who knows the show knows the importance of the dragon with this character and how often it was used as his turning point. The way the dragon surrounds him, but does not dominant him is a marvelous interaction. I feel this piece is very inspiring for me as someone who has had many turning points in my life and this was actually the reason i commissioned this piece. The attention to detail is and almost flame like position of the dragon shooting off of Zuko's hand has symbolism. Where the dragons dances and swarms around him like flames, it also shoots off of his hand as if to use the dragon as firebending, being the original fire benders and all, and the mouth being open to possibly show the intent to breath fire. I find this to have so very much to it. I can honestly say I have many wonderful things in my collection that cover my studio for inspiration. However to me, this is probably one of the MOST inspirational pieces for me. Having gone threw many stages and trials in my life much like Zuko did having to come to terms with a lot and finally understanding his true journey in the end with the help from the dragon, I can look at this beautiful piece and know to never give up and keep going on my journey.
Thank you so much for this!
