Time and space
Persistent illusions
Seeking a place.

Unwitting deceptions
Hiding like elves
Do we fool others
Or merely ourselves?

Sometimes the mask
Is fitted so well
That all of reality
Becomes just a shell.

That which is not
Eclipses what is
And the answer remains
Unknown to the quiz.

Now firmly in place.

You, yourself, are to blame.

A correspondence I am having here on dA reminded me of this piece. My best friend (and best man at my wedding), the Man Of A Thousand Handles, turned this into a song. Please ... no thievery, even of short pieces. Thank you.

In any case ... sometimes, some of us choose to not be in public that which we are in reality. And, sometimes that choice gets a life of its own, becomes ugly, turns around and bites us in unpleasant portions of the emotional anatomy. I watched this happen to a female who played this game in our old computer user's group. She was quite popular ... until the animal bit her severely. She left the group in shame, humiliation and disgrace.

If there is any moral to this ... always be true to yourself, no matter what or who "yourself" might be.
