Here is the initial design for Renaissance-era Hermes, ostensibly Capello Montanari, levitating a bit. While he can fly, it attracts a good amount of unwanted attention, so he only does so in private or at night.

In other news, he may be promiscuous and picaresque, but he's also very deadpan lazy.
