Description

Project DR

(Concept Sketch)
A setting from my story 'Dirge: Chronicles of Midghar'.

History: Misghar island's history is somewhat of a mystery even to those living on it now. It is unknown how long this island has been sitting there, hidden from the outside world by the Sacrosanct Orb, but it is obvious that there were inhabitants before Kengui and his crew arrived.

The Sacrosanct Orb, hidden within the labyrinthine caverns beneath the island, has the power to create a neigh unbreakable shell around the island, which creates the illusion of invisibility to the outsider's eye. Theories have it that the shield is made from millions of miniscule crystal shards that are in tune with the Orb - their fractured structure reflect light (to hide the island from sight) while letting basic elements like rain and oxygen through, while being far too dense to allow larger particles (like Humans) pass.

To the left is Lightown, inhabited by the original re-settlers of the island after the 3rd World War broke the Orb's shield. To the right is the Darkness' Headquarters, the makeshift settlement of the Santoubu soldiers who invaded, then became trapped after the Sacrosanct Orb was reactivated (to prevent further reinforcements).

A bitter cold-war has plagued this island for many years, through things are about to get much hotter.

This was a concept piece for the basic shape and layout of Midghar, which as previously been conceptualised in much older, simpler works.
