Undead Apocalypse Chapter 2

    I don't know how or why it happened, but it just did. I thought I might be dreaming and that I might soon wake up from this grotesque nightmare of walking corpses, but it still hasn't happened. It was a regular day at school, I was heading off to my second period class with my best friend Sekaito. We were chatting about how first period had gone. I remember everything that happened those few moments before my whole world was twisted upside down.

    The two of us had just left our chemistry class, and were walking down the halls holding hands. "Man, I don't get all this acid and base stuff. It's too much! Mr. Bullock should go a little slower when lecturing and showing example problems." exclaimed Sekki, he didn't like chemistry much but he was pretty good at it, better than me.
"Yeah he should. I really hate having chemistry first thing in the morning…But it's better than last year when I had Physics."  I sighed. Sekki leaned down and kissed me on the cheek.
    "Cheer up Aki-chan it's almost over." he smiled and looked into my green eyes and I stared back into his beautiful bright brown ones. I loved his eyes, his hair, and everything about him. His soft, light brown hair, his big strong arms, his abs and pecs, his deep sexy voice, and most of all his smile. It always cheered me up even on the worst days.
"BEEEEEEEEEEEEP!" Oh no! That was the late bell! It slapped me back into reality an out of my day dreaming.
"Sekki! We're late for class! Come on!" the both of us raced down the halls and there was a sudden flash of light. We stopped dead in our tracks, and looked at each other.
"What was that?" the two of us asked.
"Uhhhh……uhhh…." came and unknown voice.
"Aki-chan are you ok?" asked Sekki.
"Uhhhh…..Uhhhh…." came the voice again.
"I'm fine, who is that moaning?" I asked.
    "Uhhhh….Uhhh! Uhhh!" The voice got louder, and there was more of them that joined in. We turned around and behind us were a large group of students. They were limping, their arms were stretched out straight in front of them, and their mouths hung open. As they got closer I clutched my nose. There was a strong and sickening scent in the air. It smelled of rotting flesh and blood.
"Are they ok?" Sekki whispered, I honestly had no idea.
"Lets just go to class, forget getting a tardy pass." I told him and we ran down the halls, and outside towards the music building. Right when we got outside we heard a scream.
    "Help!!! Ahh!!!! Help help help! HELP ME SOMEONE!…GET AWAY!!! GET AW-ACK!" The scream was cut off, Sekki put his arm in front of me and yelled,
"Aki-chan! Run! Go into the Band Hall! Hurry!" I looked over his arm and saw something seriously disgusting. There were five or six students on the ground, devouring another student. I put my hand over my mouth and took a step back.
"W-what are they?! Are the even still….Human?!" I exclaimed.
"Forget that, just get into the Band Hall where it's safe!" yelled Sekki, I did as he said and raced through the double doors. He was right behind me and right after he came in we blockaded the doors with chairs, stands, and one of the pianos.
    "Call your brother, we need him here. Something bad is going on. Those people, they….They looked like zombies…" said Sekki. I laughed nervously.
"They can't be zombies. Z-zombies don't exist!" I cried. My friend put both of his hands on my shoulders and looked me in the eyes. His eyes were dead serious with a hint of terror showing in them.
    "Aki listen to me, this is serious. I know it sounds way to crazy to believe but I mean, think about what you saw and heard. They have to be zombies. I mean think about all the stuff we have ever read and heard about them. They gotta be zombies. What else could they be? Text Akaido and tell him to get over here and pick us up, now." I couldn't argue with him, they were zombies, it's just too crazy to believe. It didn't seem true or possible, yet there it was, right there, outside those doors. I pulled out my phone and quickly texted a message to my big brother Akaido:

"Something really weird is going on here. I need to you come to the Band Hall, A.S.A.P.! Please hurry and be careful there are students eating other students here! >_<"

    Sekki and I sat on the upper level of the band hall and held each other close. After about half an hour my phone rang, the caller ID read "Aka-san" I answered it and heard my big brother's deep voice whisper, "Akita-chan! There are zombies out here! There's a big group of them around the doors in the front and on both sides! I need help to get in."
    "We'll come and help you, just stay hidden ok?" I told him and hung up. I looked at Sekki and he just nodded his head. We both stood up and ran down the stairs and out into the hallway. In the janitor's closest I found a metal stick that was probably supposed to go to a mop or broom. Sekki took a wooden broom then pointed at the orchestra room.
    "There's a door in there that leads outside, we could let him in through there." he said, and I followed him to the room. Once we were in there I called Akaido and told him to come around the side where we were at.
"Alright, open the door I'm right here." he said and lightly tapped on the door to let us be sure it was him. As soon as we let him in I jumped into his arms. I was so glad to see him. His tall buff figure, green eye, medium long black hair, red tipped side bangs covering his right eye. He must have been getting ready to go and play a show with his band, since he had on his "concert attire". A black button up collared shirt, dark blue jeans, red high top converse sneakers just like mine and a red tie.  
     "Akaido! I'm so glad you're ok!" My big brother smiled and ruffed my hair.
"I'm glad you two are ok too. Jeeze you wouldn't believe what it's like out there. Zombies are everywhere, and people are going insane and running for their lives!" said Akaido, the three of us walked back into the hall way. My big brother dropped a big black bag on the ground that made a "clang" as it hit the ground. He sat down and opened the bag. "I thought that we might need some means of protecting ourselves, so I brought all this." Sekki and I looked into the bag and nearly fainted. Inside were rifles, snipers, handguns, shotguns, a machine gun or two, metal bats, two katanas, large bamboo sticks, and a practice kendo sword.
    "Where did you get all of this?!" exclaimed Sekki, Akaido winked and replied,
"I have connections and friends in secret places." I took up a metal bat and swung it around a few times while the boys talked about all the guns. "CRASH!" the sound of glass breaking came from behind us, we turned and saw that the zombies were breaking through the doors! I ran over and swung the bat as hard as I could at one of their faces. "CRACK!" The sound of metal striking bone echoed through the hall, as my bat made contact.
    Immediately that zombie stopped moving and collapsed onto the floor. I looked up and there were ten or fifteen more behind that one they were all crowded around the doors trying to get in through the glass window on the bottom of the door. "Sekki! Akaido! Get something to block the door! Now! I'll try and hold them off!" I called and began bashing every zombie that crawled through the door. Sekki and my brother ran into the orchestra room. I saw them trying to lift one of the heavy bookcases over stuffed with boxes of sheet music.
    "CRASH!" Another window broke and the zombies were able to slip in faster, I couldn't fight them all off fast enough. I still tried and swung my bat over and over until Akaido and Sekki got closer.
"Akita! Behind you!" called out my brother, I turned to see three of the undead right behind me. I tried to swing my bat, but two others were grabbing on to my arms and the bat. Damn it! I struggled trying to break free.
    "HI-YAH!" "THUD THUD!" Sekki had jumped and kicked two of the zombies  "Come and get me zombies I'm over here!!!" yelled out Sekki. He busted through the door and the zombies began to follow him, leaving me and Akaido to blockade up the door. We blocked up half the door and after awhile Sekki appeared jumping over the fence. He was ok! Thank my lucky star! I ran out and hugged him as tightly as I could. He hugged me back and kissed me on the lips.
    "You have no idea what was over there! There was a bi--ack!" his voice was cut off, and drops of warm sticky liquid splattered on my face.
"S-Sekki….?" He fell backwards, and on his neck was a zombie biting into his flesh. I swung my bat down on it's head, then quickly pulled Sekki back into the band hall.
"Akaido! Push the bookcase hurry!" I yelled as I set Sekki up against the wall. His breathing was slow and uneasy. "Sekki…Sekki are you alright?" I gently shook him.
"Aki-chan…They…They got me…..I… don't think…...I'm not going to……make it….Shoot me….Before I become…..one…..one of them…..please…." his voice was raspy and almost not there. I put my hand over my mouth and held back my tears. I wanted to protest and scream "NO!" and tell him that he was going to be ok, but I knew he wasn't. As for his last wish I couldn't say no, I went over to the black bag and pulled out a handgun. Slowly I came back and held up the gun and aimed it at Sekki.
"Sekki…I'm sorry." I slowly put my finger over the trigger.
"Stay…..Alive…….Don't……Don't let them…..get you….." he said, his voice fading more and more. I took a deep breath, tears raced down my cheeks, and my hands trembled as I aimed up for his head.
"Aki-chan…I love you."……"BANG! SPLAT!"Blood splattered on the walls and on my face. My whole body was shaking as I stared at Sekki's still lifeless body. The light in his eyes was gone, but there was a smile on his face. For the first time ever, that smile sickened me. My whole body was shaking. The world I was in was over and gone, I had just killed my best friend.

I collapsed to the floor and cried, with the gun still tightly in my hands.
