Hi there! I’m here on behalf of #Traditional-Artists to make sure you get all the feedback this piece gained at our Critique Night.

I hope it is useful and will help you for your future work! :aww:

“I really like the color scheme of this piece and the contrast the realism of the glass and the strawberry versus the abstract background ... very colorful and eye catching. :)

“I'd like to start off with a positive on this piece, the colours are so vibrant and full of life, I love this! I won't offer advice on using acrylics because I personally can't so won't be able to add anything of value. My observations however are that your proportions are off for the glass, your ellipses are not entirely accurate and distract from the piece. Straightening these up and making sure they were proportional and balanced would make such a difference. It also appears that the glass is floating, there is no grounded surface. Adding something for the glass to stand on, would allow you to create a cast shadow, furthering the dimension on the piece and enhancing the depth. My final observation is that your glass seems quite opaque, whereas it should be transparent with highlights, being able to imagine yourself looking through the glass would be beneficial. All this being said, I like your style and your use of colour and think there is a deal of potential here.”

“I like the general frozen-like feeling of the painting and brush strokes although I don't understand the concept. Love the vibrant colors but think they need to be more detailed and harmonized by adding them to each other. I also like the combination of realistic and symbolic drawing in the cup and strawberry with each other.”

“My favorite part of this painting is the lovely vivid colours used making it very striking. The Realism achieved in the strawberry is well done. More work is needed with the leaves to fit with the realistic body of the fruit. They seem flat and in comparison. The texture of the glass is very well done catching the light giving a strong translucency and works well but try to work on continuous lines. This will give more poignant edges to the glass specially the rim. Now the proportions are good for the top section but the rim does look like a pointed oval. With more rounded edges it will much more realistic. Now the bottom half of the glass is in disagreement with the top half. It is good but just too small. Also from this perspective looking down the base of the glass should be a similar shape to top. It at the moment appears to be going at a different angle from top left to bottom right. The top of the rim appears flat. The roughly painted background contrasts well with the glass and completes the picture. I do feel a more refined technique may have been more impressive with more and shorter strokes to make up the same effect. It may sound a lot but they are only little things individually A very nice Painting.”

“These are my thoughts, so not necessarily a critique. To me the reason why the background is abstract compared to the realism of the glass is, perhaps they're under the influence of whatever is held in the champagne glass. Their only focus is on the glass and that's why it's the focal point, it floats because everything in the room isn't real now, I'm guessing they're at a party or club which is why everything is dark except the neon lights reflecting off the glass so strongly. Perhaps the black paint is the figures of the people moving in the club which is why its distorted.”
