Description

GUYS. HEY GUYS. :iconmoontouched: IS OPEN FOR APPLICATIONS! RUN, DON'T WALK, TO THE RULES, READ THEM, GATHER THE REQUIREMENTS, AND APPLY!

Name: Ron “Ronulous” Lovell
Sect: Nemvarg
Rank: Alpha
Age: 29
Gender: Male
Height: 5’8”

Personality:

Ron likes to think of himself as a fair, agreeable sort of person. While he tries to plan things out so he can avoid violence, he tends to be very protective of subordinate werewolves, and it takes a lot to make him angry enough to act… Though those who know him can tell when he’s getting riled up, by the way his eyes change from rich brown with a tad of yellow around the pupil to a wolf’s gold in color, followed by a slight tremor in his muscles. This often proceeds him actually changing shape without meaning to. However, in spite of this, Ron lives his life trying his best to mediate between his human side and his wolf side, which is sometimes a struggle, but usually, he manages well.

Though he’s a Nemvarg, Ron really doesn’t understand a lot of the fluffy spiritual stuff some of the other Nemvarg apply to being a werewolf. However, he doesn’t turn his nose up at it either, and tries to understand, for the sake of his fellow wolves. Though, the one thing that he really doesn’t get at all is how some Nemvarg seem happy to share lycanthropy with others. While he’s accepted being a werewolf, and uses this condition to his advantage when possible, he’s promised himself that he will never, ever pass it on to someone else, willing or not.

When Ron isn’t at work or attending to pack matters, few things make him happier than reading a good book, particularly one about folklore. If he finds anything interesting, he jots it down in a leatherbound journal, which is full of notes and sketches like this: [link] Ron’s favorite color is ruby-red, and he usually keeps a pot of red and orange marigolds on his weather-worn porch.

Ron hates the taste of Rye bread, has a slight allergy to ash tree pollen, and also has a strong aversion to amphibians, particularly frogs, because he thinks they’re nasty and slimy. He's bi, but really loves nothing more than books... well, except for his pack.

Background:

Though he was born Louisiana, Ron did most of his growing up in Wisconsin, where he met his best friend, his “brother by another mother:” Remmy. However, after college, Ron decided to head for new job-hunting grounds in 2006. Remmy helped him pack up his stuff and cart it all the way to upstate New York. Once the move had finished, Remmy and Ron decided to go for a nice camping trip… and were attacked by some sort of beast. Remmy was a hulk of a man, and between his and Ron’s efforts, they drove the creature away… but both were hurt.

With their camping trip ruined, they packed up and limped home the next morning. Soon, they said their goodbyes, and Remmy went home to Wisconsin. However, the next full moon, Ron discovered something terrible: He himself became the same beast that he was attacked by. He was now a werewolf, and so was his best friend.

It took a while, but with one another’s help, long-distance as it was, they coped, and accepted what happened. They began to manage their condition, living by the calendar, trying their best to balance their human needs and the needs of the beasts inside them. Both Ron and Remmy gave one another nicknames: Ronulous and Remmius, based upon the names of the brothers that founded Rome.

Ron, being an amateur folklorist, at first turned nearly all of his studies to lycanthropy, looking for a cure. However, after a while, Ron came to enjoy being a werewolf, and began simply acquiring any and all knowledge he could, some of which was, admittedly, laughable.

While his friend Remmy found other werewolves in Wisconsin and joined a pack with a long history, Ron spent a lot of time as a lone wolf. For the most part, he was careful, though he was spotted once in 2008, and was later horrified to find the account recorded in a book he was reading. However, over time he met other werewolvesm such as Bran Norington ([link]) and something resembling a pack formed, which eventually grew into the Melion Pack.

Today, Ron lives in a comfortable, but, run down house [link] with this mess of a vehicle sitting outside it: [link] . His home rests on the edge of Adirondack Park, and has a yard full of lillies of the valley and azaeleas. He spends his days managing a small bookstore and his nights keeping in contact with Remmy, and working on numerous books. Well… that’s what he does on most nights.

The Melion Pack

Truth be told, Ron never really intended to have a pack; he’d decided he’d lone wolf it. The problem was that, well, both humans and wolves are social animals, and need to have company. Eventually, his wolf’s social instincts coaxed him into hanging out with the new werewolves that he occasionally bumped across. After a while, he had a group of friends and acquaintances who would, every full moon, come by his home because it rests alongside Adirondack Park, and it became a safe place to stash clothing or belongings. All on its own, a loose pack formed. Knowing that this wasn’t the only pack around, Ron jokingly started calling this pack the Melion Pack, and the name stuck.

Ron likes to think of this pack as a place to help new werewolves become adjusted to their changed lives. He tries to keep the pack structure loose and fluid, and does his best to ignore pack rankings because he feels that leadership and decisions are to be shared. Ron usually runs things in a diplomatic way, asking the opinions of all of the wolves present when an important decision needs to be made. When a situation requiring one sort of expertise is needed, he’ll ask the wolf with the proper skills to lead, and when another sort of experience is required, he will ask a different wolf to head the pack until the problem requiring their abilities has passed.

However, this is not how wolves normally function, and this sometimes leads to personality clashes when werewolves with dominant personalities are asked to follow werewolves that are more submissive. While many of these conflicts never go beyond vocal arguments, they do sometimes become physical, especially when wolf states are involved. When these arguments arise, Ron steps in for the werewolf he put into that position and sorts things out.

The Melion Pack is far from perfect… However, at the end of the day it’s all about companionship as well as understanding everyone’s strengths and weaknesses. This pack feels more like a group of friends than a set of ranks, and that’s how Ron likes it.

Joining the Melion Pack Since Ron has a habit of picking up strays, the Melion Pack is open to any Moontouched member who wants to draw up the challenge to join up: Ron always wants to know what a wolf has to bring to the table when they join his pack. To show him what your werewolf can do, draw it doing what it does best, be it running down deer, solving complex math problems, or baking cheesecake.

Character use information for Moontouched Members: Feel free to use Ron in your art for Moontouched! That being said, just please try to keep his character integrety in mind, and don't do anything too unsavory to him. Injuries are fine, but death and losing limbs are not. If you have any questions, just ask!
