Lion style ZEUS os X for Windows 7 sp1 (32bit) [link]

sp1 ZEUS os X is based as an inspiration from the Lion mac os X Developer previews and made under my personal view.
This version made for using to sp1 32 bit Windows 7 system.

After the installation of all of the files included we have Mac OS X style system behaviour with not 3rd party program .
Also Details Pane to the right and Preview pane to Top.

This is a Mac OS X port for WIndows 7 sp1 , made by Pavlos Pitselas (ZEUS osX )

To the current preview i have modified and remake a wallpaper which is not included to the pack , as the original maker is Nagy Norbert [link] from Hungary, so credits goes to him for his work.

APPEARANCE AND WORKING WITH THE THEME

My lion mac osx style work is not just a theme. With new code added to Windows system files , Windows becomes behaving like Mac OS X .

When forinstance we select a folder as 'icon', we have separate mouse over image for the folder and other image for the text.

When we select a folder as 'details' we can have stripes, and mouse over images like mac os X , blue hover and white text .

With additional code added to shell32.dll the Preview Pane setted to Top, and Details Pane setted to right (like to osx) .

Also Folderband (is the command bar i which is written 'Organise', 'Open' etc) is included to the preview pane.

That means that if we press to the keyboard Alt+P Preview pane appears --> also Folderband at the top of Preview pane.

Now via Folderband we can select 'Organise' -->' layout' and then select which pane we want to appear (for example we select Details pane) or deselect that we dont want.

if we want to dissappear Preview Pane we press again to the keyboard Alt+P .

Attention: if both Preview Pane and Details Pane are appeared, then we will have this kind of appearance:

Details pane will give the preview of the current file or folder we select with our mouse and also the details text description of it
Preview pane will give the preview of the folder that contains the selected file or folder. [except if the current file is a text or music file or video]

now if we want to have to the Preview pane the preview of the current file or image etc we must first close the Details pane.

Also, if we like to have always shown the Folderband just open the preview pane and set the vertical slider at his minimum position to the top[so no more space to be used].

THEME CATEGORIES AND IDEA BACKGROUND

Main categories of visual styles: Transparent, Brushed, Gray.

Names and styles of Themes:
Diafania [=transparency] - 2 versions ---> transparent
Ares [=Mars] - 2 versions --> brushed
Leon [= Lion] - 2 versions --> gray

the names of the visual styles/themes are based to the ancient and modern Greek language

On screenshot , down window there exist some of a portrait of Alexander the Great(=Alexandros) who unified all Hellenes=Greeks ie (Peloponisians , Thessalians , Macedonians, Athenians, Cretans etc ].

IN ancient and in nowdays Hellenic (=Greek) [Active CODE] language, every letter, and every word is a specific number, and it has a specific meaning.
ZEUS ( or DEUS or DIAS) is Master of immortal Gods in Hellenic (=Greek) Active CODE [arithmetic machine logic] language, and APPLE is the given gift from ZEUS .

So the name of the THEME choosen from Hellenic = GREEK language and civilization.

EXPLANATION DESCRIPTIONS

My work is based on the spirit of os X, and not a copy of it.

Many images are designed in a similar but not same way with original os X.

I use font bold style in many places that original os X use regular font style.

I made this project to work only to 96 dpi font size.

For this project i have spent thousands of hours, and perchaps it is first time in the history of Windows, that without any 3rd party program or explorer replacement, we have a so much close to mac os X style approaching.

The theme will have some limitations in use, as i have not enough time to complete in the way i want,.

MAIN LIMITATIONS AND CONDITIONS OF USING

1. Be sure that in Control Panel\Appearance and Personalization\Display the Smaller - 100% categorie is checked . if there is not, check Smaller - 100% and restart.
Also do not change font size (leave it 96 dpi font size).

2. do not change border padings.

3. for close distance between close,min,max buttons Ave's application [still beta] , CloseButtonChanger needed.

I N S T R U C T I O N S SP1 (32 BIT Version)

There are on this download, visual styles, there are forward and backwards buttons (ExplorerFrame.dll), imageres.dll, shell32.dll and explorer [=start button] for windows 7, 32 bit version and Themes and visual styles are used on all versions of windows 7.

so : First do a restore poin to your system. Then :

UNZIP all files, using freeware 7z [link]

Then go to Control pane [view by category] -->so Go to Control Panel\User Accounts and Family Safety\User Accounts and press the folder 'Change User Account Control Settings' set the slider to the next window Never Notify.
Restart

1. To use the visual styles ( mstyle) , you must install a small application, download from [link] .
Credits goes to Rafael Rivera for this amazing work. Then restart your system.

2. Copy the folder 'OS X Cursors' , to C:\Windows\Cursors .

Copy the 'Mac os X Wallpapers' of this pack to C:\Windows\Web\Wallpaper.

Copy the 'Mac os X sounds' of this pack to C:\Windows\Media .

3. Copy all the folders included in the folder 'Macos X Themes by ZEUSosx' [after unzip all files, and copy them to C:\Windows\Resources\Themes ,provided C is your Windows drive).

Open there ["C:\Windows\Resources\Themes"] and choose the theme name you like, select it, double clik tand thats it.

a. Obtain Permisions and Ownership of ExplorerFrame.dll, imageres.dll, shell32.dll that located in C:\Windows\System32 and and do also the same for explorer that located in C:\Windows\ . (use the "Obtaining Permissions and ownership.txt" for help on installing)

( example of taking ownership to a random system file
[link] , internet explorer compatible)

b. Backup you original ExplorerFrame.dll, imageres.dll, shell32.dll and explorer by renaming them to ExplorerFrame.old, imageres.old, shell32.old and explorer.old

c. Copy ExplorerFrame.dll, imageres.dll, shell32.dll from this pack to C:\Windows\System32 and and explorer to C:\Windows .
For the BRUSHED and the TRANSPARENT Themes ( Diafania and Ares ) copy the ExplorerFrame.dll from the '1. buttons light blue HOVER ' folder, for the GRAY leon[lion] copy the ExplorerFrame.dll from the '2. buttons gray HOVER' folder, of this pack. (or anyway choose what you preffer).

d. Restart to see the changes.


4. Go to Desktop Personalize & apply the theme you preffer. restart.
Please do this 2 times. Select the theme, and after you apply it, select it again for second time.
this because sometimes the color borders in windows 7 system does not applied with the first double left clik of the theme. so do it two times, please.

NEXT 2 steps 5 and 6 are not neccessary.

5. AS an OPTION : Copy the folder TASKBAR'S FOLDERS to C:\
Then drag with your mouse any of the folders exist to yoyr taskbar for 'PIN' each you choose.
There are some folders having shape of separator so you can divide your taskbar to sections. **********

Also you can remove from your taskbar if u want the clock and date from the right part of it doing this:
right clik to taskbar/properties/customize/Turn system icons on or off ---> set clock off , also set any other you want to off position

6. AS AN OPTION: again go to Control Panel\User Accounts and Family Safety\User Accounts and press the folder 'Change User Account Control Settings' set the slider to the next window to Default or to whatever u like, then restart.

POSIBLE PROBLEMS -- to some specific systems

There is only to some specific computers, after the changed of the system files, and specially with the shell32.dll , possible problem with the sound card driver.

Those kind of problems appears to some systems, because we change the system files, specially the shell32.dll
this has not to do with the new code i have added for working the system in osx styling, but with the fact that we replace system files.
original system files are cooperating with registry and programs AND drivers that have previous been installed , so when we copy paste new system files in some cases in some systems may some problems appeared.
this has to do with the windows 7 code behaviour.

For NOT having problems is best the changing of the system files to ne to a new installed windows system, to a system with no application installed.
So, not programs to our system installed, only windows and all the updates [if we use microsoft Update], the we change the system files and then we install any APLICATION we like. this because sometimes if we do the changing to a system that has aplications installed it may some of them not worked, as one of the original system files we change ---> the shell32.dll 'cooperates' with the registry and the programs in a way that a replace of it sometimes[not ever] it MAKES some applications not working. but this does not happen ever.

i writte those to you for understanding what happened:
there are 2 solutions to such problems of windows7 code:
first make a restore point.
1. or use the originall shell32.dll of your system. how --->

if you have already changed the system files with mines : you go to C:\Windows\System32 and you rename the current shell32.dll to shel32.bak and then rename the shell32.old [this was our original microsoft file] to shell32.dll
this method has some disandvantages such as some folders and positions of elements are in windows and not in mac osx style settings. but if the sound driver coorperates good then use this method. is the best for your functionality.

or 2. method make restore point. then unistall complete sound driver.
then via microsoft updATES install a generic sound driver from microsoft, that solved your problem. this last solution is posted by people on past which has such sound driver problems that are made because of the cooperation of registry, driver and shell32.dll. with this solution your sound it works, but some extra possibilities of the card its perchaps not.

from my experience there not many systems which have such kind of problems.

so :

How To Rebuild Icon Cache In Windows 7 To Repair Icons

when we change imageres.dll or shell32.dll which contain new style icons, to this current pack mac osx style icons, its sometimes that we see some folders dont change looking taking the new icons looking but using the old one.

If for any reason, one or more Windows 7 icons are not showing correctly, you can repair by rebuilding the icon cache. Icon cache is a hidden file located at the Local Folder. Here is how to do it:

go to control panel (large icons or small icons) select 'fokder options'.

As the IconCache is a hidden file, you need to enable “Show hidden files” option to see the same. To do this, head over to Tools > Folder Options, switch to View tab, and finally enable Show Hidden files, folders, and drives option.

Now navigate to C:\Users\username\AppData\Local folder and then delete IconCache.db file. Here username is your user profile name.

Reboot your computer to rebuild the icon cache.

All icons should be displayed correct now.

for aero style only : Download Switcher from [ [link] ]
for basic style only : Download WinExposé from [ [link] ] ,
these kind EXPOSE style programs are giving the sense of osx using style, you can see all windows you have added to your desktop at once and with a clik to choose any window of them as the active one !

Making the looking of the right side of windows 7 taskbar as possible as mac os x right side of taskbar, without changing any system files.

MAKING SOME APPLICATION WHICH DOES NOT START WITH THE START OF WINDOWS, ENABLE TO START.

[ATTENTION, DO THIS ONLY IF YOU TRUST THOSE APPLICATION]

FOR leftsider, for example:

For starting with windows start up , go to control panel/clasic view/folder options then go to view and select show hidden files and folders. then go to C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Startup and add a shortcut of the leftsider or any other similar aplication.

then go again go to control panel/clasic view/folder options then go to view and deselect show hidden files and folders.

(do the same for any other application, but only if you trust it, and does not automatically work with the start up of windows) [if you want also to uninstall an application , like leftsider and reinstall a new version of it, you have first go to "C:\Users\[enter your username here]\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files\" and delete the folder called "leftsider" = delete the folder with the name of the application , in this case current "leftsider".]
