Bloom

A gentle smile graced her face.

"I have something for you love." She whispered.

She cupped her hands beneath her breast and  stared down at them peacefully.

Before he could grow curious, a brilliant scarlet rose appeared and began to slowly bloom beneath her fingers, it's silky petals a perfect contrast to the thorns that pricked her delicate and scarred fingertips.

A small drop of blood flowed from the tip of her finger to gently land on one of the flower petals, the color of her blood meeting the rose and blending instantly.

She lifted it to her nose to inhale the exquisite aroma.

She smiled before presenting it to her lover standing wide-eyed before her.

"For You."

He slowly brought his shaky hands to reach hers, affraid that if he touched her or the rose, they would shatter or dissapear.

"Don't be afraid." She tenderly assured. He nodded and took the small rose in his hands.

"Thank you..." He replied.

She stretched her hand to gently caress his cheek.

"Sorry for the blood." She uttered with a smile.

She leaned forward to press her forehead to his a final time before placing a gentle kiss on his soft lips.

"Goodbye love."

As the chill of the cold wind reached him, she was gone, and the petals of the rose began to blow away in the wind.

A single tear rolled down his cheek and dripped onto the rose.

"Goodbye."
