Personality:

Desiree is intelligent, tough and very emotional at time, especially when she deals with the victims on her morgue slab. She is very compassionate toward victims of all kinds, particularly children. She's also a bit of a tomboy, normally wearing her black jeans, sneakers, tank top, glasses, lab coat and a ponytail, slightly messy. She tries to suppress her Creole accent, thinking it make her sound country. She doesn't wear much makeup except for lip-gloss, but she doesn't really need it anyway. Has a great sense of humor and loves to sing, manages to keep her colleagues in high spirits around Arkham, also part of Joker's interest in her at first.

Brigitte is charming, funny, seductive and even a bit scary at times. She is not scared to get down and dirty when it comes to a fight, but never loses her graceful demeanor. Her hair is almost a dark purple, almost black wild with streaks of white and violet. She wears a revealing form fitting dark purple and white body suit, more like a second snake-like skin; beads and a chain hang from the waist, normally barefoot and wearing her mother's necklace on her neck. Her eyes are eerily snake-like and even her teeth resemble fangs. Her Creole accent is very evident and sometimes speaks Creole when frustrated. When dealing with very dangerous criminals like Joker or Killer Croc, Her attitude darkens, knowing she make have to kill to survive.

When she's angry, her face starts to become appears more snake-like then human.

History:

Desiree is Gotham PD's lead Criminalist and a brilliant criminal profiler who has researched the mental traits of killers and various other criminals. Desiree grew up in Lafayette Parish, LA and around the mysterious world of Voodoo mostly due to her mother, Marie.

She is a direct descendent of Marie Laveau, the Legendary Voodoo Queen of New Orleans of the 18th century. Although born into the religion, she never really believed it until she turned 10 years old. Marie Leona Laveau, her mother, revealed that the first born of the Laveau women obtain the power of Loa, like their ancestor. Since Desiree was the only girl with 3 brothers, she was the one to carry this mantle. Over time with her mother's guidance, she hones her powers and decides to use them to fight crime and bring her own brand of justice to all those souls who ended up in her morgue. She takes the name of Madame Brigitte, a variation of Maman Brigit (Voodoo deity of Death, Queen of the Loa) but unlike her predecessor, her power is increasing quickly with each year. Maybe there's more to her history then even she knows.

She leaves New Orleans to trains Gotham's CSI department and encounters Bruce Wayne at Wayne Enterprises; his company has created the lending technology in the field, so they work together closely. Eventually Brigitte meets "Batman", there's an obvious attraction between them but they keep it under wraps while as Desiree and Bruce, they actually start a relationship, not knowing the others secret.

She periodically works in Arkham Asylum to learn more about its most dangerous patients and that's how she first meets The Joker. Joker was interested in her mostly her wits and her attitude, but he wasn't blind to her beauty. The woman could match wits with The Riddler and stand up to even Killer Kroc. Eventually The Joker encounters Madame Brigitte during a jewelry heist. Entranced by her looks, smarts and her powers over life and death, The Joker develops a dark desire driven obsession with her, wanting to "adjust" her mental state and seduce her with his love of chaos and mayhem.

Brigitte is one of the few women, aside from Desiree, he sees as an equal and also a gem he wants for himself. Much to the dismay of his current love struck partner, Harley Quinn. Quinn hasn't killed like Joker, but Jealousy has turned many into murderers and Harley's resentment of Joker's desire for another woman may make her cross that line.

Joker likes women who has the potential for madness, a dark sense of humor and a brilliant mind .... Plus he's more into brunettes than Blondes.

Desiree has a reason to hate The Joker; Marie's death was because of him.  She wants to make The Joker suffer as much as his victims did, but her morals and Batman manages to prevent her from doing down that road. As Bruce and Desiree become serious, Bruce tells her he is Batman and Desiree revels she's Brigitte. This sign of trust only deepens their love for each other and Bruce is starting to think there's a future from them. But this happy moment is darkened when The Joker begins to learn more about Desiree's family history and may have figured out she is Madame Brigitte. First the stalking then the notes, Desiree is starting to fear that if he's learned the truth, he may learn about Bruce's alter ego.

Desiree and Brigitte are two sides of one woman, a woman who has been surrounded by death and magic all her life. Yet she has made the choice to risk her life and even her sanity to bring justice to those people whose lives were unjustly ended. She will watch over the living of Gotham and comfort the lost souls of Gotham as well.
