Description

Making holydays with Shrike aren't easy, i know. This year i choosed a remote location, because Shrike wasn't accepted by other people... Even if Shrike accept other people... at least as food!
Okay, so this year i choosed New Mexico/USA. Lot of deserts, rocks, mountains and so on. But it take only three days... three lousy days, and she get in trouble again... Last year in central america she was mistaken for Quetzalcoatl... (Hello? Did someone saw feathers? Shrike is a Wyvern!) and this year she only make some flies... no, she eat nobody, really no-bo-dy, she took only one or two calves... and i instantly heared some rumors about some legend of the Navajo people in this area... Something about a monster bird called Tsé Ninájálééh or so...
Hello??? I repeat it for the records once more: Shrike is a Wyvern! No feathers!! No bird!!!

Nevertheless, some trigger happy idiots from an airbase nearby spotted her and tried to shot her down!
Fortunately the pilots were rookies, they used the Sidewinder-rockets instead of their Vulcans, Shrikes temperature was too low for the infrared-sensors of the rockets and the firing-range was way too short... so they only punched some nasty holes in the rocks and Shrike made it to escape!
I found her later totally intimidated in a cave in one of the rocks! Hey, that was animal-cruelty... my poor Shrike!

----------------------------------------------------------

The idea to bring Shrike in serious troubles by modern warbirds or helicopters and let her barely escape was in my mind since a couple of months. And first it was planned as a scene over a jungle. But on the other side, i made so many jungle-shots for Sucuriju, so i changed my mind and planned to set it somewhere in the high, snow covered mountains to try something new... A few days ago the episode "Monster Bird" from the series "Beast Legends" brought me this new inspiration and i changed my mind again: Shrike was mistaken for this legendary bird! She has almost the same dimensions and capabilities... and eat humans too! :evillaugh:
On the other side it's a sad truth too: Monsters from old legends would have a damn bad stand today!

Technical side:
Shrike, Jets and Sidewinders posed in DAZ-Studio 3 and imported into Vue 9 Studio. Scene set and rendering done in Vue too. Render-Time: 0h 19' 54" (!), 65,090,716 Polygons, 504 Objects, 1 Light.
I think, lensflares ar often overused in3D and normally i avoid using them, but for this scene they fit very well. Post-production (motionblur, smoke and rocked-flames etc.) done in PSP X.

Thank you, Neil, for this gorgeous freebie!
