During our "deviantART related" week of Project Educate you will have the chance to expand your knowledge regarding that gallery as a whole and its subcategories.
If you have a question regarding a certain subject, but can't find any answer in the news articles and events provided, feel free to contact GinkgoWerkstatt via note, mail or leave a comment.
The dA related week of Project Educate runs from Sunday October 31st until Saturday November 6th.
deviantIDs are mainly used to present yourself to your watchers, so that they are able to get to know the person behind the deviant name better.
But of course it is also a way to attract new watchers, when they pass by your profile as a random guest. With your ID you can gain attention, depending on the images you use and the information you share.
There is no limit or rule to what your deviantID should be like or how it should look. It's all about your personal style. It should be you that speaks for your guests and watchers.
What do you think would be important or interesting for them to know about you?
Go straight forward and add details, make it look all mysterious, be serious, use something funny… whatever you decide for should represent you, make sure it fits you!
So basically an ID is:
Even though a deviantID can be a "simple" photo of yourself it can be so much more. When working out a nice ID, try to be original. A plain boring profile shot is nice to get to know how you look like, but it usually has not much personality.
The same goes for the quality… quick webcam shots are nice and we all know the typical "standing in front of a mirror taking a self-portrait" shots, but unless they have a special something you can see them on every second profile.
There are a lots of nice resources on deviantART you can use to style your IDs a bit more. Use textures, use brushes, add some frames etc
Make it yours!
And once you have an idea, try to make it fit to a width of 450px maximum(if you are using .gif it shouldn't be bigger than 150px). Big IDs are ok, but it can happen that they get cut off or will be resized and don't look good at the smaller size anymore.
Also if loading the images (with all your other fancy decorations on your profile) takes too long, it might not attract but scares watchers and guests!
So the three basics are:
Before you can use your ID on your profile, you need to make one – of course!
So if you haven't done any yet, better do it now and then follow the steps listed below.
This news article provides you with a lot of nice examples of how different IDs could be!
If you can't think of a nice ID for yourself yet, you can also use one of the many templates that deviants offer for free usage.
Below are a few examples of them!

Name change, not dead but also not really back...
Hey everyone!
Not sure who is still around or not, but as you can see I am still alive. Since the beginning of 2019 I have told myself, that I want to be more active again here....

The name change was done, as I have been more and more active under "GinkgoWerkstatt" and it represents me better these days.
Still making cakes, still working with plywood, but d

You might remember the contest I mentioned in August last year. Welll, the first one I joined was a crazy experience... mostly because the preparations made me become desperate quite often. Of course I learned a lot as well, but maybe I also challenged me too much.
In the end I won gold with my cookies though, so it was all worth it! Gold for my first fair competition - woohoo!
For the second competition I decided to do something a bit more simple (didn't had months to
