He's MY master - part 8

Later that evening, Martha was sitting next to Sami on his sofa. For the second time, she explained to Sami how she had foiled Mr. Pearce: “He was very successful at the stock market because he used the power of his genie to get his hands on insider information.”

“And that is bad?” Sami asked.

“He broke the rules. It’s like… like granting a wish you are not allowed to grant.” Martha tried to make the situation more understandable for Sami.

“Ah, I understand now. You put him under pressure so he would make a careless wish. That’s really cunning.”

“He got what he deserved. He wished that he wouldn’t be arrested by the police. But he had me imprisoned in the crystal ball. So, turnabout was just fair play.” Martha laughed.

“Indeed. I’m impressed how you took care of this evil human.” Sami concluded. “And what happened to his genie?”

“She appeared at the front desk today. She promised to leave me alone if I gave her Adam back. When I did so, she said that she would keep Adam locked inside her lamp.” Martha explained.

“I hope she will keep her word. You know without a human stating a wish, we can’t use our magic against her.” Sami looked a bit worried. “What happened to your own lamp?”

“I brought it back to its pedestal. Everything is back to normal.” Martha leaned on Sami’s chest. “I have to thank you still for freeing me from the orb. I wasn’t sure if you would…”

“… if I would rescue you?” Sami concluded.

“Yes! When you turned away from me yesterday, I thought I’m just another human to you. And I know that you don’t like humans.”

“I’m sorry for my reaction. It was your experience as a human that got you out of this mess. I would have never come up with such a plan. Can you forgive me?” Sami said.

“Forgive you? Of course!” Martha snuggled on Sami’s chest. Sami put his arm around Martha’s shoulder. Soon both genies were asleep.


Epilogue:

Later the morning, David ran into Amelia near the staff exit. The maid was carrying Martha’s lamp: “Good morning, Amelia. Where are you taking that lamp?”

“M. Sprüngli gave me the order to throw it into the trash.” Amelia shrugged her shoulders.

“Why would he do something like that? He loves his antiquities.” David thought aloud.

“I don’t know. He just told me that he doesn’t like this particular lamp anymore. It’s like he changes his mind from one day to another.”

“Give me the lamp. I’m going to talk to him.” David commanded.

“But M. Sprüngli told me to throw it away. I’m a good maid and have to obey my master!” Amelia justified herself.

‘What’s wrong with her? She acts like the fetish versions of a maid.’ David thought. “Listen, Amelia. If M. Sprüngli says something, I’ll take the blame. And if he insists on throwing the lamp in the trash, I’ll do it myself.”

Amelia was uncertain for a moment, but then, she passed the lamp to David.

“Don’t worry, Amelia. If necessary, I’ll take the blame.” David reassured her. Then he left for M. Sprüngli’s office.


“May I ask why you don’t want this lamp anymore?” David asked M. Sprüngli.

“I just don’t want it anymore.” was the short answer.

“But you were so fond of it. When I arrived here, you showed it to me. What happened?”

“I can’t explain… when I see the lamp now, I feel stupid that I bought it.” M. Sprüngli tried to explain.

“In that case, would you mind if I take the lamp?” David asked.

“I don’t mind if you do. Take it if it pleases you.” M. Sprüngli answered.

“Thank you very much, uncle.” David took the lamp and left the office.
