Waiting on the bridge

Traditional art with Nanquin (0.2 , 0.5 and 0.8) and color pencil. Finilized in photoshop using a texture by ~ArtOfDecay-Stock for the old paper appearence.

I tried to tell a story with her kimono with drawings that go throught the deep sea, soil, air, ending in her head.

The bridge is the symbolic image of change; change from something you just leave behind to something you're about to face, once you pass it throught. I like to think it's the Mannen Bridge, but the architecture is not alike at all ( ;>.<; ).

The bamboo is an attempt of using sumi e technique. It is also a symbol of menhood, which, in this case, refers (maybe) to the person she eagerlly awaits.

Finally, tha character itself was inspired on Kaoru, from the anime Rurouni Kenshin.
