[Commissions] Personal Use Terms

The artist (vtas) retains all copyrights to the picture commissioned. The artist grants the commissioner a non-exclusive license for personal use ONLY, eg. not-for-profit activity, edit the image size and dimensions (such as for wallpapers), website banners, and printing it out for your own wall.

You may not claim the image as your own, display the image without crediting me, mass-redistribute the high-res image file you receive, or use the image for commercial purposes of any kind. Credit for the image must be given with a link back to this dA account - http://vtas.deviantart.com, and placed clearly and in an area the viewer can easily see. Credit is not required if the commissioner uses the image for an avatar of 250x250 pixels or under, but is required for anything larger, including forum signatures. If you want to to sell the image or use the image beyond personal use, you can note me and we can discuss a commercial license agreement. If any of the usage terms are broken, the commissioner forfeits all rights of use and agrees to indemnify the artist for the breach and any other fees.

If the commission is heavily based on an original character design, you agree that you are the copyright holder, or own the derivative works rights, give me use of the design for the purpose of creating the artwork for the commission and release me from any derivative-work liability or copyright infringement for the commission. If there is a copyright issue, the commissioner agrees to take full responsibility and liability for the content of the artwork commissioned.

While it is unlikely for the commission to become a print, on dA or elsewhere, I reserve the right to do so. I may also include it in packages such as art books or collections. However, I will never claim the character design as my own, and when applicable, credit the character design to you or the respective copyright holders.
