Ray of Sunshine

Dedicated to my friend Samii
because she's been such a great friend to me!


Sami has been such a good friend, and I'm so happy to have met her on dA a while a go, and for her own ongoing support of me and my work! What a lovely person she is. 's
She loves animals and I know she really loves cats!

The cat above is Raya, our outdoor cat who we "met" when we first moved here about 4 months by now. She's one of many strays/abandoned/ferals that overrun the neighbourhood, which is really too bad, and difficult to figure out how to deal with

We decided to take on this one for certain full-time, because the claws on her front polydactyl toes were growing so long they were deforming the toes themselves, and we thought if we could tame her enough, we could try to get her some help with this, and perhaps spay in her the process... however, while she HAS come a LONG way with us... it wasn't far enough, before she did get pregnant after all.

Her kittens were born Aug. 2nd and are stuck up under the abandoned house next door in the insulation. The Humane Society gave us a carrier for retrieving them. We got permission and we went under the house... BLECH! but, we were unsuccessful when we realized that Raya had dug up into the insulation and is ANYWHERE inside the actual flooring.
So... we need a BIGGER PLAN now...


Raya = because it's Spanish for RAY or STRIPE and she is a Ray of Sunshine to us, both because she's a bright spot in our lives AND the colour of her eyes, AND because she is striped- since she is a lovely marked Tabby!

My friend Samii has been a bright spot in my life, too, and I really like her work lots,
