Redline for :icondrewetta:
Original: [link]

Sorry for the wait on this! Things have been hectic in the past week or so as I've been preparing to move back to college. Also, I did this redline while I was on the ferry with no internet connection, so I had no refs aside from my own anatomy drawings. Just saying x.x
If anything looks off, PLEASE let me know!

Your original drawing was overall very nice! You definitely seem to have a pretty nice understanding of cat anatomy.

The area that had the most problems was the head. It's a bit too tall, and the muzzle was too sharply angled. A cat's head and muzzle are very round, and tend to be a bit more long than tall due to the muzzle. The muzzle should have a nice, downward slope to it. You drew it a bit too straight, like a dog's. The forehead is a bit too high, giving the head a tall appearance. The ears are pretty good, though they flow a bit more into the side of the face. They're still kind of on the top of his head the way you drew him.
Regardless, the head still looks pretty darn good! Keep studying reference photos and you'll be golden :3

The body is a little too short in your original drawing. A good way to avoid this is to do a rough sketch of the skeleton before you jump into the final lines, making sure there's enough room for the ribcage, the pelvis, and the space in between.

Keep in mind that cats have no chest and that their leg muscles connect directly to their necks. The line you drew from the leg to the shoulder should actually be drawn a bit more slanted forward and flowing into the neck instead.
While I'm on the topic of the shoulder, this is a bit nit-picky, but I would suggest making the shoulder just a tad pronounced instead of having a straight flowing line from the neck to the body. Nothing too crazy, just a subtle elongated bump will do.

The body shape itself is pretty nice, but careful not to make your cat look too scrawny. Domestic cats tend to be much less "shapely" than dogs. Don't draw the tummy "tucked-in." House cats are pudgy little guys X3

The back legs look really good! I would just make the back of the leg a smidge more concave (inward curve) to show that there are indeed two parts to the leg.
Also, keep in mind that cats have 4 toes on each paw (not counting the dew claw on the inside of the front paws), not 3, and draw them facing a bit more forward. The paws in the background are turned outward a bit too much.

One more thing: I see that you drew this traditionally, and I don't see any underlying sketch, nor do I see any erasure indicating that there ever was one. I would strongly suggest you do a rough, light sketch before making your final lines if you aren't already. It makes complex poses SO much easier and helps to prevent tons of anatomical inaccuracies, as well as keep things proportionate.

That's about it I guess. Happy drawing! :D

References (that I totally would have) used~

Nifty skeletal reference (I would suggest starting every drawing with a sketch of the skeleton in the pose you want to draw): [link]
A caracal standing, just to show you what I mean by the pronounced shoulder (don't use this guy as reference when drawing domestic cats because caracals have pretty unique anatomy as far as cats go): [link]
