While this is writen very nicely, I can't help but feel a little lost. Now I haven't read the rest of the story so I can't say in all certainty, but this seems a little random. This would be better if you explained how the characters got into the current situation; background info is always a must in multi-chapter stories. Though like I said, I haven't read everything yet, so you could be starting things off with present events and then moving your way back. That's understandable, and please correct me if this is the truth.
Either way, you have a lot of talent in writing out emotional scenes, and I encourage you to keep it up!
