Ghetto Vault lol Suit - Belt1

Description

I see a lot of people paint some yellow stripes on a jumpsuit and call it a vault suit. The belt is an important detail that people seem to miss! Why is that? It's cheap and easy to make!

Here's some progress on my "Vault LOL" Vault-Tec vault suit belt. I have a resin cast belt buckle that a friend made me (you could just as easily make one out of craft foam), and currently these pieces are sitting waiting for a coat of Plasti Dip to dry so I can throw on the paint and call it a night.

Man, I actually like quick and dirty props and cosplay now. I spent all this time on previous prop and mold making projects, trying to make guns and pipboys as perfect as possible, and it takes forever. I do some quick (and cheap!) "good enough the night before a con" stuff, and it turns out pretty good. This belt is all craft foam and anti fatigue foam, using parts from some templates I found a while ago. It's not 100% accurate, the edges are rough, and it's my first time cutting and shaping multiple layers of foam like this.

But you know what? I don't see a whole lot of people doing this, and if I can do it, you can do it too! And probably better ! Craft foam is cheap, and I found that Michaels sells a specific "craft foam glue" that works pretty damn good. Try it yourself and see what you can do with an X-acto knife and $3 dollars worth of craft foam. :D

Do you have the pattern that you used for the back plate? Also great job.
