UPDATE 10/01/2012
The results for the crit event are up on my journal! Do join me in appreciating the work of all our wonderful critics! [link]

------------------------------------

What a difference 1....2...3....16 years makes! :D Done a while back, and didn't get too much time to work on this, but it sure was fun!!

The pic on the left is my oldest picture I have record of, done when I was about 5 I think.

THAT CHIN. I just want to shoop a 'forever alone' face in there. :iconforeveraloneplz:

Though, this is definitely not indicative of my total development in 16 years, its more like just a fun little re-do.

:gallery: FANCY YOURSELF AN ART CONNOISSEUR? :gallery:

If anyone feels up to it, try critiquing the BEFORE piece like you would a normal piece of art. Rip it apart! I would LOVE to hear it! COME AT ME BRO!

Please read the wonderful crits (not only in the crit section, but down the comment line) from your fellow deviants! They too, are in their own way, works of art!

Well, I haven't done such critique before so wish me luck xD

It may be quite amusing looking at our old drawings and looking at their remakes, seeing our improvement in years <img src="e.deviantart.net/emoticons/s/s…" width="15" height="15" alt=":)" data-embed-type="emoticon" data-embed-id="391" title=":) (Smile)"/> It's good to see of course. We all started from basics <img src="e.deviantart.net/emoticons/w/w…" width="15" height="15" alt=";)" data-embed-type="emoticon" data-embed-id="387" title=";) (Wink)"/>

I like the idea. Especially the paint marks on girl's face. It may be quite representing our Artist's childhood main job <img src="e.deviantart.net/emoticons/b/b…" width="15" height="15" alt=":D" data-embed-type="emoticon" data-embed-id="366" title=":D (Big Grin)"/> getting our face and hands smeared with colors. It's nicely done I must say. The child's body proportions are also drawn well.

About the background, sometimes it's hue is matching with the girl's shirt color (maybe it's just me). I think that if the shirt would be colored with some lighter tone of blue like on the left, it might look bit better, since it would make her look like she's more close and not blending into background.

Composition is maintained. I would make the signature a little bit more transparent, to keep the eye's attention on the girl <img src="e.deviantart.net/emoticons/s/s…" width="15" height="15" alt=":)" data-embed-type="emoticon" data-embed-id="391" title=":) (Smile)"/> You can try using little different background's hue to write your signature (like where we have dark blue here, you can pick little lighter one or bit darker to add signature, but not too little since it still needs to be visible. I hope you understand... My explaining skills in English may be terrible)

There's expression and emotion which is good to show in art <img src="e.deviantart.net/emoticons/s/s…" width="15" height="15" alt=":)" data-embed-type="emoticon" data-embed-id="391" title=":) (Smile)"/>

The girl's face makes me keep thinking of a scene, where she has drawn something on the wall and asks somebody from family to see her new artwork, and she's happy from it. Very well done! I really like it <img src="e.deviantart.net/emoticons/b/b…" width="15" height="15" alt=":D" data-embed-type="emoticon" data-embed-id="366" title=":D (Big Grin)"/>
