The sun approached the center of the sky as Mias and his steed came over the hill. The horse walked at any easy pace so as not to strain his rider. Mias was holding his left arm to his chest while mumbling an enchantment. He had underestimated his opponent this time, but thankfully suffered nothing worse than a dislocated shoulder. He'd already forced the joint back into place and was casting a healing spell to numb the pain and speed the recovery. Such injuries were annoying, just like the one who caused them.

To Elle's surprise, Mias gave up trying to catch her after only a few minutes. She waited behind a discreet broom closet door for nearly fifteen minutes before she squeezed herself out from under the door, shook her furry little body free of dust, and scurried over to the front door. She didn't care what form she escaped in, she simply wanted out. Once again she tried to push herself out under the door, but the front doors fit too well against the frame work to make a crack big enough for even a mouse to slip through.

Mias leaned forward in the saddle, urging his black steed forward with kicks and shouts of encouragement. The crisp night air invigorated his senses, and he pushed his horse faster still. The landscape was a blur around him, farmhouses and cottages coming into view for mere seconds before disappearing once more into the darkness.
Mias pulled up on the reins as he came up over a hill, giving him a perfect view of the rolling fields and cottages which dotted the countryside below. He patted his horse approvingly, glancing up at the moon and sucking in a lungful of air. He closed his eyes, allowing the sounds of the night to envelope

I am such a terrible person for putting this out so late, especially when I had said there would be a chapter out on Sunday. My apologies a thousand times over.
University recently started up for me and I am taking a full course load as well as working. Plus, my first week (last week) was plain awful. =[
But here it is. =] I hope you enjoy it.
I will find a schedule that allows me to publish regularly, on a weekly basis, I am just still sorting out schedule details.
Thank you all so much for the support and watches, faves, and comments. They make my day, everyday. (And when I was having an awful week last week, I would log on to dA and be immediately cheered up).
This is a fan fic *StressedJenny's delightful characters whom she has graciously allowed me, and others, to write fan fics and have our way with her characters. (What heterosexual female wouldn't want to have their way with Mias or Abernos?)
On another note...
How much damage do you think Abernos and Mias will do to each other? Is Elle breaking? Has Elias lost all his senses? Will Mias ever go back and fight for his castle and challenge his evil twin? Or will he go on to be a free spirit in the wind, following where his whim takes him? And what will earth do if Elias breaks through the portal?
...I'm moving to mars if he does. =]

I suddenly have a strange sense of pity towards Duncan... and a very natural hatred towards Elias. I like that you make him truly as dark and malicious as he is. The fan fics that make him caring, without much reason, bother me somewhat. It's just not him. But you are doing a fabulous job. I'm off to read more.
