The Origin of Ace

Part 1

Sometime in the late twenty-fourth century, a Latias Jedi master by the name of Liana was investigating the mysterious disappearance of a small cargo freighter on an unnamed and uncharted planet on the outskirts of the galaxy, by order of the Jedi council. After several hours of searching and finding no sign of the missing vessel, Liana stumbled upon a small crash sight. The Jedi master rushed over to the crash sight to find a single escape pod half buried in the sand, still fully intact. Sensing a very faint life sign from within the pod in the Force, Liana quickly opened the pod to find a young human boy of no older than a year and a half. There were no other tags or items of identification within the pod, no birth certificate, no indication of who his parents were, not even the boy's name. the only other item in the pod was a small playing card, specifically the ace of spades, which the young boy was chewing on. Liana quickly brought the boy with no name to the infirmary on the patrol ship to which she was assigned, and after finding no other signs of the missing freighter, documented him as the sole survivor of the presumed destroyed vessel.

As Liana began spending more time with the boy, she began to sense a very strong Force presence from him. Curiosity overcoming her, Liana soon brought the young boy to the Jedi council to be evaluated for his sensitivity in the Force. After discovering that the boy's midi-chlorian count was over fourteen-thousand, the council was immediately impressed. The council then granted Liana permission to train the boy as a Jedi.

Though very pleased with this, Liana was still troubled by the fact that the boy still did not have a name. Then, thinking back to the item the boy was holding when she found him, inspiration struck the Latias Jedi master, and she instantly knew what to call him.

Part 2

When Ace turned four years old, his training as a Padawan at the Jedi temple began. For much of his time in training, the young Jedi apprentice was stubborn, headstrong, and incredibly obnoxious. The boy also had many strange behaviours, ranging from twitches and ticks, to social ineptness. These slight abnormalities often resulted in Ace being shunned and bullied by the other young Padawans, to which he at many times reacted violently, causing him to receive the reprimand instead of the ones who provoked him.

Whenever Ace complained to his mentor, Liana, the Latias Jedi master would simply reply "Those who wish to make fools of others, are fools themselves." Liana's words were of little comfort to the troubled young Padawan.

Soon after Ace turned nine, he met and became close friends with a slightly younger Riolu Padawan named Ben. For the next several years, Ben would continue to remain one of Ace's only true friends, besides Liana and her younger brother, Lucas.

On Ace's eleventh birthday, Liana gave to him his first real lightsaber, which he proudly wielded up until he constructed his own before becoming a Jedi knight.

Part 3

When Ace was about fifteen, a massive galactic civil war broke out, forcing him to mature much faster than he would have preferred. Ace, by Liana's side, fought many battles, and on occasion was even forced to strike down an enemy or two with his lightsaber, much to the teenager's dismay.

Three years into the war, the Jedi council deemed Ace ready to face the Trials, to which the boy eagerly accepted. Ace easily passed every of the Jeds Trials, until he came to the last two, the Mirror, and the Kobayashi Maru. Ace failed miserably on the Mirror the first time around, but on the second try, he finally understood the meaning of the test, and passed with flying colours. On the Kobayashi Maru, Ace became very frustrated by the fact that he was simply unable to resolve the situation in the simulation. When Liana informed him that the point of the test was not to win, but rather to see how one reacts to imminent defeat, Ace rejected her explaination, and insisted on taking the test again. After still not succeeding the second time, Ace devised a devious plan. The young man took the test a third time, but not before making some modifications to the program. This time, to everyone's shock and disbelief, Ace beat the simulation, without so much as a drop of sweat. When the council discovered that he had cheated, Ace proceeded to explain that the test itself is a cheat, and that knowing how to think outside the box in dire situations is more important than learning to accept defeat. After several days of debating this, the Jedi council ruled in Ace's favor, and gave him accommodation for original thinking. Having passed all of the Trials, Ace was then granted the rank of Jedi knight.

Soon afterwards, the newly knighted Jedi was assigned his first solo mission by the Jedi council. Ace's objective was to go to the icy planet of Brithe, track down, and destroy the one who started the war, a powerful Sith lord named Darth Venomous. Liana openly objected to this, saying Ace was not yet ready to take on such a mission by himself. However, she was bluntly overruled by the rest of  the council.

Unfazed by Liana's warnings, Ace proudly took on the mission, and traveled to Brithe to defeat Darth Venomous. It did not take long for Ace to find the notorious Sith lord, who he challenged with valour. After a brief clash of blades, Ace lost his right hand to Venomous's lightsaber. After offering Ace one last chance to surrender to the Dark Side, to which the now crippled Jedi bluntly refused, Venomous hurled him off the edge of a tall mountain. Luckily for Ace, Lucas arrived just in time to catch him before he hit the ground.

Ace was then immediately brought to the medical bay on a nearby ally star ship, where he received a fully functional prosthetic replacement for his severed hand.

Part 4

A few months later, the war finally ended, and Darth Venomous seemed to mysteriously vanish from the face of the galaxy.

His Jedi mentor having been slain late in the war, and still not yet being a Jedi knight, Ben was assigned by the council as Ace's first apprentice. Over the next year or so, Ben trained with Ace on many various missions, until he, too, was ready to face the Trials, and become a Jedi knight.

Not long after Ben was knighted, the council sent the two Jedi to investigate a great disturbance in Earth's past. However, just after Ace and Ben entered the Dimensional Gate, there was a malfunction, and the portal exploded while they were still in mid time warp, sending the two Jedi knights on an adventure unlike anything they had ever experienced before…

This is the backstory to my character Ace from my story Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of the Final Frontier. It describes his life as a Jedi in the future up until he gets turned into a Pokemon in the Pokemon world.
