Running Heart

FINALLY!!! Lol after being bed-ridden and stupid sick, I've managed to be productive. I've been working on this one on and off for a few weeks, in-between commission work.

My sister is writing a story about a painter that is obsessed with fairies and their beauty and he despises humans, seeing them as disgusting and evil. There's a grove in the woods that he visits everyday to paint many paintings of the fairies he loves. One day, he finds a human girl in his grove who is both mute and deaf. After many days of trying to fight her off, her breaking into his paints and playing, and other tribulations between the two, he slowly begins to accept her and see the beauty with her human self. As he becomes in touch with the beauty of being human, the child begins to grow large, beautiful fairy wings as she is the representation of his human self that he cast out long ago and begins to accept.

Sarah asked me to do an illustration for the story as it will be a gift for our mom for her birthday on the 19th of this month. Our mom has been a wonderful inspiration for all of us and has continued to teach us to believe in ourselves and to accept who we are. Sarah is writing the story out by hand and my brother will be binding it all together. ^~^ <3

I'm not used to working in color on such a small scale with a watercolor like medium but I think I managed to get it to work. I think this is the piece with the most media in one piece so far in my gallery haha! XD On a side note, I don't normally put words in my work but Sarah asked that it have the line "Of sad moonlit dreams, the running heart sings."
