Emei felt herself being lowered onto the snow and Rohai's scarf being pulled around her tighter by the miracle dog himself. At least, that's she she assumed. The icy light was far too bright to see the Lucario next to her, let alone the rest of the Rescuers.

"Emei, stay low. Don't make a sound. I'll be back in a sec."

For once in his life, Rohai sounded serious. So he was capable of such a thing... Her ears picked up the sounds of snow crunching as Rohai walked away, and were quickly stolen again as her guild leader spoke.

"Let them go, Shiv," Chill said from somewhere to Emei's left. The horrible metallic voice rang out again in a harsh, condescending laugh.

"I've too much leverage over you lot to just let them go, Chill. I'm sure you understand how this goes; do as I say, and no one gets hurt. I might even let one of the girls go... if you're a good boy."

It's a lie, Emei thought, but none of them were in any position to refuse. Everyone was silent for a few agonising moments as they pondered their options, and it was evidently a few moments too long for Shiv.

"Froslass, freeze them a bit for me. Perhaps that'll spur them on into giving up."

The Froslass, purple skin and red ribbon just barely visible in the freezing mist, let loose a small blizzard with a lazy flick of a hand. The Skamory was pushed from his space above the spiky rocks for just a moment by the storm- if only someone could've got him to drop Maple, this would've been the perfect time...

And then, it happened. Shiv's voice rang out in pain and surprise as Rohai punched him square on his blind eye, forcing his grip on Maple loose and sending the Stunky down into Zhu's huge, waiting arms. Shiv's efforts to right his wing flaps resulted in something not even Rohai could've planned- the Skarmory's sharp feathers sheered the rope holding the Icy Triangle around his neck, sending the instrument into a plummet.

It took only seconds for everything to descend into utter chaos from there.

God, this drawing. I must've done 15 different versions. I knew exactly what I wanted but couldn't draw it, so I went with something hilarously simple and very, very lazy. I'm gonna try and get the last two pictures done tomorrow, and with any luck they'll be far more interesting than this one.
