Sonic and the Mystic Mage"

Chapter 36

"Okay, now let's try this again," said Silver as I cracked the wineglass. Again(1).

"All right," I said in my normal tone, trying not to sound tired, even though I looked like it. Taking telekinesis lessons with Silver is becoming a major pain in the ass for me; or rather in the head. Wind-sea, highly skilled; earth-stone, moderately skilled; love-psychic, highly skilled; moon-heaven, skill-skilled; fire-space, tepid; ice-time; tepid (highly skilled for the "ice" part, actually). Telepathy and aura-readings, zooming by on that, almost as fast as Amy(2); telekinesis... ugh. I hated that special ability. Don't get me wrong, I liked that special ability; I just don't think it likes me(3).

"All you got to do is rotate the glass with both your hands and thoughts in a 180-degree angle," Silver said the third (or rather the hundredth) time.

"I know, but I'm still not sure about this," I replied. It wasn't actually a lie; I can't help if my telepathy and telekinesis mingle together, and that is the worst part of it, and that's easy for Silver to say since he's the one born with it(4).

"You need to learn it along with the ice-time magic," Silver argued back reasonably. "You also learned telepathy along with the love-psychic magic you recieved from Amy, right? So it shouldn't be a problem for you."

"But what good would this telekinetic workout do, anyway?" I asked(5).

"Would you just do it??"

"Alright, alright, sheesh." I used my hands and mind, like Silver instructed to rotate the glass in a 180-degree angle, like he said, but then the glass dissolved the instant I did that(6). "Whoops." I blushed salmon pink, but a second later, my brain felt as if it was turning to stone.

"I, uh, think you aged the glass a million years," I heard Silver say.

"I know that without you having to stoop the ominous..."(7) I said disorientingly before I started to black out again.

I fell onto my side struggling to keep my eyes open, trying to keep everything, including Silver, in better view. But everything just double-visioned, fuzzed up even more. Then just as my brain turned to stone, I closed my eyes quickly, seeing nothing but black with a purple noise against it; in other words, a dark void which I felt like I would never be able to come out of.

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

I finally thrusted myself to wake up from that void. Then I ffound myself laying on the orange couch with a cream blanket on me. I then sat up and rubbed my eyes. When I've done so, I felt like the stress in my skull(8) had ceased and my brain cells have come back to normal(9).

"You're finally awake."

I didn't need to turn to see who said that(10). "Hey, Sonic."

"Passed out again?" Sonic asked.

I turned to face him and replied with an irritated tone, "Yes."

"Don't tell me; it's telekinesis?"

"Mm-hm." I then sighed. "Why is it that everytime I try to rotate something with my telekinesis (a small cracked glass, for instance), I often get blackouts?? It just bugs me. Let alone using telepathy."

"You didn't seem to have a problem with it," said Sonic. "Nor does Ames."

My heart stopped for a second when he said that nickname. If he does sometimes call Amy "Ames", then it must mean that Amy could be the most important person to Sonic, whilst Sonic would share the same feelings towards her; I just know it(!) Even if that were just true then why does he keep on crushing on me, making flirty smirks and becomes somewhat protective of me? It really makes no freaking sense! He must--or rather could--have taken a liking to me when he rescued me from the fire back then... or is there another reason...?

"Well," I began as I shifted into a comfortable sitting position. "This is mostly because telepathy is the most relaxing of all special abilities. And I'm sure that goes for Amy. It might sound somewhat awkward, but theoretically, telepathy is most relaxing and contempted whenever you're having sexual activities with someone, but--" I swiped the air with my hand "--it's just a theory(12)."

I could just see Sonic's face flushing slightly, but despite that, he asked in a firm tone,(13) "If you think that telepathy's relaxing, then why do you find telekinesis so stressful?"

"Could be that they are different subcategories under the category 'psychic'," I replied. Yet I wonder if this is having something to do with something else... "Anyway, it is getting late, we need to make tracks and get back home. God knows what Vanilla might do if we come home late."

"Best thing we don't wanna know," Sonic started as he picked me up from the couch with his arms. "Is what."

"I can walk on my own, you know."

"Can you after you had your blackout?" I could tell that Sonic's voice was a concerned tone, which sruprised me a little, since Sonic always had this easy-going voice plus the same easy-going attitude. But his tone of voice had changed now, but not the attitude(14).

Sonic then set me on my feet first, then put his hand on my thighs and his other on the small of my back (he even had to stand on one foot tippy-toe). And he pushed me upward slowly (just in case I might lose my balance or something).

He let me go slowly as possible, and I stood upright, but then I felt a little light-headed at first, but it had passed by. I then tried walking, but then I had wobbled thrice in the process. On my fourth-time wobbling, I then lost my balance, but Sonic once again caught me in his arms. I assumed that my blood hadn't even flowed through my legs and feet and toes yet. I could barely feel them, to be honest; it's as if they had fell asleep. "Let's just go right now," I said finally. "We wouldn't have to keep Vanilla waiting."

Sonic nodded in response and headed out the door, being cautious in the process(15).

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

As we arrived at my house, I asked Sonic to put me down. He had some doubt at first, but he set me to the ground. I was a little shaky when I stood upright, but regained my coordination as I walked to the door. With Sonic holding my hand just in case I get shaky again. I blushed a little when he did that, but I tried not to show it. But then I got warm inside of me (aside from the heat of the potentially setting sun). Yet somehow I felt safe when I'm with Sonic when he rescued be as a baby years ago. Could that same feeling had returned after all these years?

Automatically, I let go of Sonic's hand and entered through the door. "We're home," I called as the scent of shrimp struck my and Sonic's nostrils(16). I could hear faint boiling (even though we are close, it's still faint), even.

"Welcome home, you two," said Vanilla as she turned her head slightly towards us. "I was just making shrimp dumplings with steamed rice."

"Sounds really delicious!" exclaimed Sonic.

I couldn't help but have a craving and lusty feeling inside me. Shrimp and steamed rice make a perfect combo. And that combo is what I often lust for whenever Mom makes it. "I know it is," I talked to Sonic, trying to hide my craving and lust.

"It should be ready within a minute or so," Vanilla said then. "Awhile, would you two please set the table?"

"Okay," I said. I went ahead to the drawer where the the silverware is, opened it, and took out a pair of chopsticks and three forks--one for Vanilla, one for Sonic and one and the chopsticks(17) for me. I gave these to Sonic and I took out three bowl-plates, set them on the counter and reached for three napkins(18). They were slightly hard to reach, so I had to stand tippy-toe and grab them with my fingers. If only I had telekinesis, that shouldn't be a problem for me(19); then again, Vanilla might notice if I did use telekinesis.

"Sonic, could you set the forks and a pair of chopsticks while I place the bowl-plates?" I asked.

Sonic nodded without hesitation and tried to reach above the table (he even tried to stand tippy-toe to do that, which, or unknown reasons, find really cute) as best he could. With best effort,he managed to get them all on the table.

Before I could put the bowl-plates on the table, Vanilla declared, "There; dinner is now ready!"

"Good thing Sonic and I set  the table just in time!" I said with a smile on my face. "Right, Sonic?"

"Yeah, I was just getting hungry, anyway," Sonic replied.

"You mind if I help you serve supper, Vanilla?" I asked then.

"Why, thank you, dear, that's very thoughtful." Vanilla accepted my offer. "Why don't you serve rice while I serve the dumplings?"

"Sounds good." I grinned slightly more.

I then took one of the bowl-plates from the table, but then I slowed in my tracks in thought. Even though I did try to stay focused when I took the large spoon in the steamed rice and took about six or seven scoops of steamed rice while Vanilla took the tongs and took out three shrimp dumplings out of the ceasing-to-be boiling water and on the rice, and repeated the process for the other two bowls. I sighed mentally. If I had telekinesis (that is, if I don't get any blackouts or something), I would be able to get the job done faster, but then I remembered Vanilla being present (even though she genuinely doesn't know that I have magic powers, same with Sonic and the rest of his friends, so I scratched that off my mind.

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

"You got some tunes I could listen to?" Sonic asked me as I was working on one of the grammar questions(24). I had to hold back a groan because, truth be told, I didn't like to be disturbed while working (for when either lunch or supper is ready, that's a totally different story). But since Sonic is my best friend, I did not groan, rather held it back.

"Yeah, there are some CDs and a CD player on the bookshelf in the corner over there," I replied as I pointed to the corner next to my bedroom door. "But not too loud, please, I'm trying to do my homework."

"Okay."

I turned my head back to the grammer question I was working on. The directions said I'm supposed correct the run-on sentences. I'm pretty much a beast when it comes to these. I skimmed briefly through the run-on sentences I've already corrected and completed, and came across this one: "The woman was walking in the park. She is walking with her dog. Both she and her dog then sat on the bench. The two wanted to rest."(25) Easy enough it may seem (particularly to you guys who are high-ranking experts on grammer) to me. Maybe a little too... Fairly... Easy... Okay, I really dunno how to rank this.

Anyways, I took some time to think this run-on sentence through(26), but then I was startled when the music came on loudly and abruptly.

"Whoops, sorry, I'll turn the volume down," said Sonic when he had done so. In a moment the volume was set low enough for me to concentrate.

Suspicious, I turned my head to him and asked, "Did you put in a drama CD(27) just now?"

Sonic gave away a blank face. "What in the world is a drama CD?"

I sighed and got up from my office chair and took out the drama CD and put it back in its case. "This is a drama CD, if you get my meaning."

"What's that?" Sonic asked. "Ohhhh, I see, sort of like radio plays and teleplays and such?"

"Something like that, yeah." I formed a sweat drop when I replied. Then I put the drama CD back and took out a different one (a regular music CD, just to clarify) that read: KOTOKO: I've GIRLS COMPILATION 6.

"Here." I gave Sonic the CD. "That'll keep you busy while I do my homework."

I then run-walked back to my office chair and continued on what I've been previously working on. Now, where was I...? I said to myself. I then remembered that I was trying to correct the run-on sentence I had read and write it down on the blank below that sentence. (I heard faint music starting, but luckily the volume was low enough for me to concentrate on my work.)

I wrote down, "The woman and her dog walked through the park; after walking for so long, they sat down on the bench to rest." (28)Okay, now that I wrote it down, that was way too easy to make that into a complete sentence. Actually, it looked easy-hard for me, I just wrote down the semi-colon to make things easier. You know, me correcting the run-on sentence might sound somewhat 7th or 8th grade-ish to you, but I've heard sometime ago, somewhere before on college enroll tests, there are some questions on math, some questions on science, some on social studies, some on health, and shit loads of reading comprehension, essay writing, and grammar! Can you like, at least believe that?

Twenty-and-a-half minutes later, I'm done. I closed my English booklet and looked at my finished booklets(29) in vain. If only Dr. Eggman and his were-animal fucktards hadn't caused any havoc around these parts, I would have at least gotten at least one or one-and-a-half of these summer homework booklets done. I sighed, deepening my vain only slightly. This is so so so SO unfortunate!

I then got up from my office chair and stretched my arms. It was really good to have a stretch evey now and then, wouldn't you say? I then put my booklets on my computer and turned it on. After a while it led me to my, um, Kiddy Grade desktop screen, and I opened Photoshop. Next off, I plugged in my tablet and stylus (in my tablet), then used my regular mouse to open up what I was working on.

After a second my image opened up and went straight to work. I'm really surprised at how nearly done this looks. Once I finish up the shading, I'll get to work with the lighting and the finishing touches. After all that studying it is good to sit back and relax. And doing some art that I never even post on the internet, tehe.

~*~*~*~*Tails' House*~*~*~*~

Rouge was scratching Isabelle's furry belly on the orange couch. Isabelle would playfully resist Rouge's attempts to scratch her belly by batting and rolling around. "You love to roll around, don't you, Izzy-pie?" the white bat cooed in question. "You are such a rolly-poly, you know that?"

The treasure hunter (or should I say "treasure theif"?) giggled as Isabelle squirmed and rolled away from her fingers. The furry kitten tried to bat at Rouge's index finger, but missed and ended up batting her little tail instead. Then she started batting her own tail as if she thought Rouge's finger was still trying to scratch her, even if it was at her anus (should Rouge do that, thought, it wouldn't even be her intention, anyway).

Seeing this, Rouge giggled in amusement. "Trying to catch your tail, aren't ya, sweetie pie?" She continued to giggle as Isabelle was nipping at her tail each time catching and releasing it.

Coming up behind Rouge, Blaze, Amy and Silver was watching the tail chase-catch-and-release game. "Aww, Isabelles chasing her tail! That's soo cute!"

"I thought it was just puppy dogs catching their tails just for the heck of it," said Silver.

Rouge turned with an uncontrollable smile. "Well, there are some little kittens such as Isabelle who try to chase their tails."

"True," said Blaze. "I remember chasing my own tail when I was a late toddler and I usually just get dizzy doing it(!)" She laughed. "And I remember my mom nagging me like, 'Blaze, stop chasing your tail, you'll get yourself dizzy!' And luckily, I stopped doing that when I was around four or five years old."

Amy sensed a little whimper in Blaze's tone when she spoke. "You okay?"

"I'm fine as you can plainly see, why wouldn't I be?" the lavender cat replied with a don't-be-stupid tone.

"G-ah, sorry, just asking." Blaze's tone made the pink hedgehog flinch verbally.

"Well at any rate..." Blaze sighed. "I think it's time for Isabelle's dinner."

"I guess you're right," said Silver. "In fact, I'm thinking all of us are hungry, and it's not just Isabelle."

"... ... ... I'll be in my room," Blaze said to the group. "Let me know when dinner's ready."

Amy sensed some sadness and distant recollection in Blaze's surface thoughts, but then she nodded and said to the rest of the group, "Okay, let's go and make some stir-fry for dinner, but for now, we should feed Isabelle with goat's milk, like around two or three days ago, and then we will..."

While Amy, Silver, and Rouge were talking, Blaze assumed it was the time to make her getaway to her bedroom far upstairs. By the time she arrived, she let herself fall onto the bed, then she brought her feet up on the bed and buried her face in her pillow. The thought of her deceased mother (or rather her deceased parents) made her cry in her pillow. All that had happened two to three years ago--before she first met Silver and before she met Sonic and friends--caused an almost total trauma for her.

Blaze was celebrating her twelveth birthday when her and Silver's sworn enemy, Dr. Eggman NEGA--who was after the Sol Emeralds--caused a lot of havoc during the celebration. She, her father, the king, and her older brother, Scorch, tried to escape, but one of the explosions had killed the king. Before he died, he gave his beloved daughter a gold necklace--who was from Blaze's deceased mother when she was even younger. Blaze and Scorch managed to escape their kingdom and dimensionally transfer to another world (Silver's dimension, in particular) unscathed--or so Blaze had thought.

One of the Egg Bots somehow managed to track the two cat siblings down. Scorch tried to defend his younger sister as he tried to melt the Egg Bot, but then died in Blaze's arms in the process; leaving behind the words, "I love you, little sister."

That painful memory back then traumatized Blaze greatly. If that weren't enough, she suffered even more when other Mobian kids teased her about her pyrokinetic abilities in the forest where she and her brother had arrived, just the same as when other kids were teasing her back in her own dimension. Until she had first met her first best friend there.

Granted, a lot had changed since she met Silver and his friends, and met Sonic, Miia and friends later on in her life, but that memory was still pasted to her mind as if it would not let go, like a parasitic fungus on a dying insect. With that, Blaze began crying softly in her pillow, muffling out "Dad" and "Scorch", praying, wishing that they had not even died before her.

Just then the door knocked. Blaze looked up, half her eye sockets glazed with tears. "Who is it?"

"It's me, Amy," Amy said behind the door.

Blaze rubbed her eyes to dry off the tears, yet her eyes were beginning to glaze again. "Wha... what is it?"

Amy opened the door. "I just wanted to let you know that dinner would be ready in around seven to eight minutes."

"Okay, thanks." Had I really been dreaming and remembering for that long?

"...You feeling all right?"

"I'm fine."

Amy could sense sadness all too easily. She could even tell her friend is lying by reading her sad, crying surface thoughts. "If you want to talk about what's on your mind, you can always go to me, or Rouge, or Sonic, Tails, Cream, Vanilla, Miia, or rather Silver."

"I said I'm fine!" Blaze blurted out. "Now go away!"

Amy flinched slightly. "Alright, alright, just saying." She then closed the door behind her.

Outside, Amy couldn't help but worry about Blaze. She could only hope she is doing okay. I wonder what went on in her past...?

T.B.C.
Chapter 36! Sorry for the long delay, I've been busy with life and such. ^^;

1. There are like, seven cracks on that glass! Right now, there are eight of them!

2. Amy and I have progressed on our telepathy thanks to these blocking exercises we both have the past three weeks or so.

3. Lie. I just hate telekinesis ever since I started learning that ability.

4. And he happens to be pretty darn good at it at that.

5. I'm only saying that so that I could just at least give up telekinesis and move on with other aspects of magic.

6. I've only vaporized three or four wineglasses before by accident. [sweat drop] Good thing Silver lost count before he could even notice.

7. Whenever I grow tired of using telekinesis, my brain goes off farting and then I have a blackout. No seizures or anything, just blackouts.

8. Most times I have major headaches; my head throbs severely than normal.

9. My brain cells go crazy too when I use telekinesis. [sweat drop]

10. Aura and telepathic readings, HELLO? Are you people dense or something??

11. So true...

12. That's the first time I've heard Sonic say anything with that firm tone.

13. I always thought that the tone and attitude is very... synchronized. At least that's what I have observed after knowing Sonic long enough.

14. Couldn't thank of any footnotes at this time. ^^;

15. Oh, my God, could that be...?

16. Chopsticks for the rice and a fork for the dumplings, 'cause I always have trouble picking up these with my chopsticks.

17. My mom always buys the most fancy napkins, but only when we run out of the plain white ones. I don't mind the whites ones, I like them as much as the printed ones. (Though I really don't know why I even bothered writing down this footnote, just figured I'd share some info.)

18. Eep, what am I saying??

19. I've had no problems with grammar. Ever.

20. Translation: "Josei ga kouen o aruite ita. Kanojo wa inu to arui te. Jibun to kanojo no inu no ryouhu ga, benchi ni suwari. Futari wa yasumu to omotta." Just so you know.

21. This could be the easy one yet.

22. I hate drama CDs. They always annoy the hell outta me. Well, except for the Mobile Fighter G Gundam drama CD, except because a few of the characters have the shittiest voice-acting.

23. Translation: "On'na to kanojo inu wa kōen o arui; nagaiai arui te nochi, karera wa nokori ni benchi de suwa~tsu." I'm only giving you the translation in romaji form so please don't go whining at me if it's not right!

24. Summer homework usually comes in booklets, which I pretty much don't mind at all.

Again, sorry for the long delay, I would just post things again as soon as I get my schedule cleared up. ^^;

In case you guys are wondering why I don't have were-animals scene, like I usually do, it's just because of my writer's block, so I'll add that in the next chapter.

I'll just add the italics later, but right now, I'm just pooped after the writers block. ^^;
