"You know, for years, I wanted to become a priest."
I looked up from the apple I was slicing and raised an eyebrow—a habit I'd picked up from him in the weeks since we'd met.
"What made you change your mind?" I asked him, dropping my gaze again.
"The Church only accepts blood-drinking when it relates to the Mass."
I laughed in spite of myself.
"I'd have thought it was the immortality thing."
"Well, that, too." Out of the corner of my eye, I saw him smile. "It would have raised suspicion after a few decades."
I speared a slice of apple on the end of the knife and offered it to him. Rather than plucking off, he delicately bit it off the blade, flashing long, grey fangs in the process. He smiled again when I blushed and took the knife away.
"You'd have made a good priest, I think," I told him. "You're really, uh, warm."
"In a metaphorical way, I trust?"
"Well, yeah." I caught his free hand in one of mine, letting the chill seep into my fingers for a second before I continued. "But I feel safe around you."
"Is that wise?"
I shrugged.
"Maybe."

CHAPTER 8
"Let's welcome our new student, Eve Kirsten, with a warm welcome to Rock cliff Junior high!" said Mr. Russell said calmly. I put on an awkward smile as my new homeroom applauded; let's just say places filled with people made my skin crawl. "Now every student needs a designated helper to figure out their first week, does anyone volunteer?" he asked the class with a tone I couldn't recognize. Half of the class raised their hands, but others just starred. One male was grinning at me, his green eyes mischievous and his dirty brown hair ruffled. He seemed mildly friendly, but not in an affectionate kind of way, I think

Neverland
I always used to think she was fine,
happy as can be.
Until one day, on a hill under a tree
she said to me
"Do you believe in other worlds?
Far beyond the stars?"
I told her that I didn't know,
a world other than ours.
She bit her lip and nodded,
stood up right there and left me.
I thought that she was fine,
until they found her hanging from that tree.
A note was pinned beside her
for all of us to see.
"I'll see you all in Neverland,
my world beyond the stars."
I thought that she was fine
until I felt myself fading away.
I thought that she was fine
until I learned that girl is me.

Ensayo

i've worked with these two for roughly ten years now. i'm still hashing out their personalities and bouncing them off of one another to make interesting things happen. we'll see where i can go from here. 200 words.
