Kin lived in a peaceful mountain along with his clan. He was educated to be a great trickster, he thought to do shape-shifting and using scrotum for many purposes. His parents also said that their ancestor was an evil Fox deity from China, he was told that Tanuki are less clever, less dignified, and less adroit than Fox.
As the time passed, the Tanuki clan got closer and closer to humans. They often went downhill and fed by humans. They almost forgot the bad side of Tanuki, who used to be a great trickster back then, and their fate to deceive humans. Humans thought that Tanuki were cute, so that they made a Tanuki mascot. The comical mascot symbolized prosperity and good luck with money, it often placed in front of bars or kiosks (equivalent of Maneki Neko). Kin really hated the human-made mascot. The mascot humans made had big duped eyes, bewilderment face, and a silly big tummy. He thought that it was a disgrace of Tanuki clan.
It all changed when the humans planed to deforesting the mountain, in order to enlarge their city. The dull-powered Tanuki clan didn’t get any chance to oppose the humans, so that they lost their home, and their lifes.
[ How and when they did they start living in the temple? ]
Kin was the only survivor. He lost his home and family, with hatred remains. Even so, he didn’t manage to take revenge upon humans. He thought that it wouldn’t fruit anything for him and his family. But it didn’t vanish his hatred, he still loathes humans. He tried to find the long kinship which connects Tanuki and Fox. He traveled from temple to temple, in order to find the ancestor. As he stumbled upon Oyaki-Kai and met the Fox, he hoped that this temple would be his last stop.
