My next attempt looked much better. I used the mask from a gi-joe figure (with heavy modifications) glued onto a Duke head and covered it with apoxie sculpt to form the rest of the details of the mask. you can see here that I also cut off the top of duke's head to give me room to glue on a plastic "brim" of his hat and then sculpt on top of that the captain's hat.
