Tie-Dyed Trans Pride

Description

****HEY EVERYONE! This flag and my rainbow LGBT flag are up for sale in my etsy shop!: [link]

This is a shot of my Trans pride flag, cropped so it captures the essence of the flag. I couldn't take a spectacular photograph, so I did my best. As you can see, this cropping cuts off the white reinforced edge of the flag, where the grommets are. It is in the same style as my rainbow LGBT flag: [link]

I only had enough material to make one of these; as I've said before I have the rainbow fabric left enough to make another rainbow flag, which I plan on selling. Once I debut this one at Day of Silence or other events, eventually I will probably sell this one too. I may just make a duplicate.

This is another experiment in pride flags. I am curious if anyone would be interested in buying flags like these, for LGBT, trans, and other sexuality/gender-related pride flag designs.

This flag took a bit longer than my rainbow one due to the symbol in the middle. I designed the symbol based on the symbol for transgender, and the symbol for feminism. I like the empowered feeling that the feminism symbol invokes, and so I applied it to trans identity.

Lesbians, gays and bisexuals are more openly talked about in society, and have made tremendous progress in their fight for basic human rights and acceptance. Transgender people have had less exposure, and are still coming out of the collective closet, in a sense. That is, society is slowly trying to understand trans people and come to terms with a breaking down of traditional gender binaries, but there is still a long way to go for trans people (and for LGBT people in general).

I could begin to cite examples of the horrors trans people face on a daily basis, but I don't need to. Look into it for yourself. You need only go to the comments section of a news article on, say, Chaz Bono or the transgender politician in Poland, in order to see that people are still very ignorant and hateful of transgender people.

Ranting aside, the important thing is to have pride. Pride is strong, and can fight against intolerance and ignorance. If people do not have pride in their identities, they will be effectively silenced. We must not allow cruelty against any member of the human species to be tolerated.

I love trans symbolism art, and this is one of the best I've seen :)
