Chapter 15
Skyla P.O.V.
"What did she mean, sisters?" I asked Alex, dumbfounded.
"I have no idea....d'you think we should go get her?"
"Probably."
"Let's go then."
I ran out, Alex at my heels. I caught just a glimpse of neon sneakers around the corner. I sprinted after them, reaching the stairs in just a few moments.
I took them two at a time, focused on keeping my balance. Then suddenly I felt something feathery behind me. Startled, I turned sharply, then lost my balance and tumbled down to the next platform. "Owwwww...!"
"Skyla! What are you doing lieing down?" Alex asked sarcastically.
"I dunno....might be that you scared me when I felt your wings on my back! What are you doing with those things out, anyway?"
"Trying to catch our flying friend."
"FLYING?"
Alex nodded. "Rainbow wings."
I rolled my eyes. "Go figure."
"Umm...we should probably get going now."
"Yup." Wincing at the newly formed bruises from my fall, I unfurled my golden wings and took off with Alex. We went much faster now, and we even gained some ground. Pretty soon we were outside, ascending into the night sky. Surrounded by inky blackness, I couldn't see much. But I knew Alex could. She was always better at night, while i was better during the day.
"What do you see?"
"It's definetly Raina, I can see her hair and sneakers from here. It looks like we're heading towards a- OH MY FREAKING GOD!!!!!"
"WHAT? WHAT IS IT?"
"It's the Tribe of Ancients. I swear it is."
"How do you know?" We knew a lot about the Tribe of Ancients, but not enough to recognise them from this far up.
"I...I dunno. I just know."
I rolled my eyes again. "Good luck with that."
"She's landing. C'mon, follow me." Alex suddenly sped ahead of me and disapeared, then reappeared on a marble rooftop. Where'd that come from? I wondered. I landed smoothly, to find Alex standing kind of akwardly near a crying Raina.
"Alex! Don't just stand there! Do something!"
"I can't. I'm only good with little kids and animals."
"Then I will."
I walked over to Raina and sat down next to her. I put my arm around her shoulder and let her cry. When she was finished, she was silent, then very calmly said, "You don't realize who I am, do you?"
"What?"
"I said, you don't realise who I am, so you?"
"I don-"
"She means that she's something other than just our best friend." Alex interjected.
Raina stood up, shaking my arm off her. "She's right."
"No, we don't. So who, or what, are you."
"Alex!"
My sister stared at me with cold eyes. "What? We need to know."
"I am your sister. The three of us are the princesses of the Tribe of Ancients,"
"Don't lie." Alex said accusingly.
"I'm not."
Alex hung her head. "I know, I know, I'm just scared." She jerked her head up suddenly and said, "What was that?"
"It was me." said a beautiful woman in a silk nightgown with...blue skin? What?
"Esmee!" Raina exclaimed.
"Hello Iris. Or Raina, as you are called now, I believe."
"Yes."
I was starting to get irritated. "What is going on here?"
Esmee turned to me. "My name is Esmee. I am the Keeper of the Tribe of Ancients. I run things so our princesses can enjoy themselves. And that is you three, Helia."
"My name is Skyla."
"In your world, yes. But here, you are known to all as Helia. Raina is Iris, and Alex is Selene."
Understanding dawned in Alex's eyes. "Selene is the Greek moon goddess, Iris is the rainbow goddess, and..." she snickered.
"What?"
"Helios is the GOD of the sun."
"But I'm not a guy!"
"And that is what it is Helia." Esmee interjected, shooting a slolding glance at Alex.
"But what does all this mean?"
"Come, and I will tell you."
We all wanted to see the house of a blue person, so we followed off the roof and into her house.
