Notes and Updates:
1/12: I decided that I really do hate the original picture and redrew the whole damn thing. It's still before the deadline, so it's okay! I also messed with the bio a bit.
3/25: ROUND TWO ROUND TWO WHOOO App will be redrawn after Round 2 is over.
5/06: sudden style change! Anatomyfailed a bit, but I think I like this style. Changes to movesets in red.
8/03: R4!!! Also fixed a typo you never noticed hurr

------------------------------

:iconend-run--pokemon-oct: :iconend-run--pokemon-oct: :iconend-run--pokemon-oct:

First OCT! I'm probably going to be unable to keep up and die, but WHO CARES.

Thought process for joining End Run:
1) Hm, I kind of want to join and OCT, but it's so much effort...
2) Oh look, a pokemon OCT! I like pokemon, so let's check it out.
3) All my favorite regions are on one side! What is this--
4) SEXY UNIFORMS
5) ENDLESS AMOUNTS OF SWAG
6) THE AUSTRALIAN UNIFORM HAS FEDORAS
7) FEDORAS
8) FUCK THIS SHIT I'M JOINING THE WAR, BABY!

My style's never been too consistent, but End Run is going to be a huge experiment on finding an art style I actually like. I'm going for a comic-ey style this time, but who knows which direction this might take me? I'm also trying to learn new art techniques and things with this (such as how to cell shade prettily, dammit). I've already learned how to draw lightning thanks to the Tynamo. It's not even the first round yet! THIS SHIT IS FOR REALS!

Ahem. I'll stop ranting now.

Stuff will be edited in when I think of some things I need to add.
____________________________________________________

Name: Ingrid Krauss
Age: 20
Height/Weight: 5'6" / 149lb
Hometown/Region: Pyrite Town, Orre
Military Faction: Air Force
Extra items:
- some string: Ingrid can't remember where she got it. It's useful for keeping track of angry Tynamos. She got a few more in case any breaks.
- a rock: Ingrid picked it up from the ground as an afterthought right before she left for Johto, and it is her only memento from home. It usually sits in one of her pockets.

Personality:
Ingrid is very outgoing and will often attempt to strike up conversations with strangers. She's also rowdy and makes friends fast; however, it's hard to gain her actual trust. She will never trust things she consider important, such as her life, to anyone and will be extremely nervous (which makes her very snappy and easily angered) if she must. This makes being in the air force quite a pain, since she becomes nervous when anyone else besides her is flying the plane -- even if that person is a better pilot than she is.
While Ingrid will usually attempt to talk things out when there's a conflict, she isn't afraid to get violent when necessary or when she's mad. Having grown up with miners and thugs in Pyrite Town, Orre, Ingrid isn't the most polite of all people and is prone to giving others insulting nicknames, even if she means no harm most of the time. Having worked in the mines ever since she's little, Ingrid is also rather strong for her size and throws a mean punch.

She dislikes Sinnohians.

Attitude on Pokemon:
Due to the scarcity of pokemon in Orre, Ingrid knows next to nothing about them and doesn't care about their use in the military. Although she doubts their usefulness, she tries to treat pokemon with respect (since she's expected to work together with them for the war and all) but doesn't really try to get along with them.

After Round 2: War isn't quite as glamorous as the propaganda made it out to be, although Ingrid seems to be unaffected by the battle--or so that's what she claims, anyway.

Backstory:
Orre wasn't a nice place to live, especially Pyrite Town. The mining business there, while profitable, only made the mine owners rich, and Ingrid's parents, a miner and a shop owner, were dead set on immigrating to Sinnoh, which was just starting to have a huge economic boom. The problem was that Sinnoh also had a staunch isolationist policy. It took Ingrid's parents ten years to save up enough money from their meager earnings to pay for the immigration papers, the many trips to Gateon Port to meet with the officials, and the high immigration fee. While Ingrid and her family are both native Orrians, Ingrid's parents even gave her Sinnohian name in hopes that it will give them a better chance of immigration.

None of it helped.

Ingrid was nine years old when her parents received the news that their request was rejected. Nobody wanted people from a backwater town in an underdeveloped country like Orre to immigrate to their own country. Ingrid watched as her parents, crushed by the rejection, broke down. Trying to move to Sinnoh became sort of an obsession for her parents: when they couldn't immigrate legally, they went for illegal means. With failure after failure, their plans became more and more outrageous. Ingrid was often forced to flee to her older brother's residence when her parents attempted to use her in some absurd plan to move to Sinnoh.

Ingrid grew up watching her parents attempting to move to Sinnoh and failing every, single, time. She wasn't too happy about that--although life in Pyrite Town was hard, it wasn't unbearable, so why did her parents kept on trying? What's so great about Sinnoh anyway?

When the war broke out, Ingrid joined the military for quite a few reasons. It was an easier job than working in the mines, and Ingrid was used to dealing with the few but very vicious wild pokemon in Orre. Having worked underground for most of her life, she wanted nothing to do with the dirt again and signed up for the air force. Secretly, she wanted to prove to her parents that it was possible to live a good life without moving to Sinnoh, and if they really wanted to leave Orre for some reason, her participation in the military might be able to help them immigrate to Johto later. It was also a good chance to beat some Sinnohians' faces in.

Pokemon:
Li'l Sucker | Tynamo | Adament | Levitate | Male
Accessories: small blue ID tag on top fin

Ingrid was originally hoping to get a cool pokemon, something with claws and fangs or at least able to set things on fire. Instead, she received a little floating white...thing. It looked like a sperm. Ingrid was a little more pleased when she realized that the sperm thing could generate electricity. She was less pleased when the sperm thing attempted to use that electricity to kill her. Thankfully, the Johto military wasn't stupid enough to give fresh new soldiers pokemon powerful enough to kill, so Ingrid and the Tynamo reached a truce of sorts after Ingrid punched that li’l fucker across the room. Ingrid knows that the Tynamo is too damn fast for her to catch and pretty darn painful when she does actually catch him, and Li’l Sucker knows that Ingrid isn’t afraid of pain and will smack him out of the air if he goes out of line.

It’s a pretty good relationship.

Li'l Sucker does not appreciate being called Sperm-thing, You Li'l Fucker, or any of Ingrid’s other common nicknames for him. Actually, he doesn't appreciate being named Li'l Sucker either (Ingrid was trying to get him named "Li'l Fucker", but that got rejected for being too vulgar). The Tynamo was captured along with many others for the war, and is known for being a little terror and violently attacking any handlers. In fact, he was given to Ingrid because she was from Orre, whose people are stereotyped for being able to tame wild animals even though there aren't any wild pokemon to tame there. Li'l Sucker does not appreciate being ordered around and is eternally pissed off after being captured because being ordered around is basically the whole idea of militaries condensed into one action.

Tynamos are strange pokemon. Johto scientists are still unsure which types to classify them as--while they have the body shape of a fish and its evolutions usually live in the ocean, they do not seem to share the same weaknesses and resistances as Chinchous, which are established to be both Water and Electric types. Tynamos also have a strange ability: they can Levitate. In fact, Tynamos and their evolutions have been observed to live perfectly well outside of the water in the wild. Having already placed a Tynamo in the Navy to determine its affinity for water, the Science and Research Center decided to test its usefulness in the Air Force. It has also been observed that most bird pokemon are weak to electric attacks, and Tynamos, with their ability to float and use electricity, seemed to be a pretty good counter to Kanto's army of Pidgeys.

After Round 2: After having his ass saved by Bird and Ingrid, the tynamo has toned down quite a lot. He actually listens to orders now and seems like he may be actually thankful for what Ingrid and Bird have done for him (or that could just be Ingrid's wishful thinking). He still tries to zap Bird sometimes, although it seems to be more out of playfulness than actual antagonism.

Bird | Wingull | Timid | Keen Eye | Female
If you haven't noticed yet, Ingrid is not too good with names. Ingrid was given Bird, who is a mild mannered little thing, to make up for having to deal with a violent Tynamo. Ingrid's pretty happy with this set-up. Even though Bird doesn't have cool-looking claws and fangs, nor can she set things on fire, at least she listens to orders and hasn't tried to murder anyone yet.

Utterly terrorized by Li'l Sucker (who hits hard with 4x effective electric attacks), Bird usually flees straight to Ingrid and attaches herself to the top of Ingrid's head the moment she sees the Tynamo anywhere. When in battle, Bird likes to avoid getting too close to combat, using Agility to dodge any incoming attacks and Brine and Swift to take down any incoming enemies.

After Round 2: Bird seemed to have gained a lot more confidence after she has evolved; that she can swallow Li'l Sucker in one gulp probably helped. She now follows Ingrid's orders more out of respect than fear of getting zapped, and she doesn't mind working with Li'l Sucker as much now.

The Other Bird (T.O.B.) | Xatu | Serious | Magic Bounce | Female

Ingrid's naming sense at its best. Named so to prevent confusion with Bird ("you, bird, and you...the other bird! Get over here!"). Sometimes called Toby for short.

Aloof and silent, T.O.B. is surrounded by more mysteries than Ingrid cares for. The rumours go that xatu had just randomly appeared in the Johto base one day. None of the officials can remember when and how it first showed up, and the paperwork regarding the xatu's military training seemed to have gone missing.

Something about The Other Bird really bothers Ingrid. She gets a feeling of deja vu and the nasty feeling of having forgotten something important whenever she's around T.O.B. The xatu's natural stare doesn't help with things. Despite T.O.B. being a psychic type and thus capable of telepathy, Ingrid can't seem to understand what the xatu is saying. It's unknown whether anyone else can understand T.O.B. either, since the xatu refuses to talk with everyone else, including Ingrid's pokemon (and thus ruining any hopes Ingrid may have had regarding a translator).

Zorua | Zorua | Docile | Illusion | Female
Is adorable.
