Rayne looked at the halter she had finally recieved in the mail. Wasn't exactly what she had been hoping for, but it would do. She didn't have time to tell the people who sent it to her that it was SUPPOSE to have zebra stripes on it, so it would have to do for the show.

She went to the stable early that morning, much earlier than she normally went. She wanted to groom both Aphrodite and Jinx before the show. Though she wasn't going to show Jinx this time, mainly because she was going to bring Aphrodite to this show (she was the classic pink and what better horse to enter than a pink one??), she still wanted to spend time with the filly. Rayne had changed since the death of her mother to cancer...maybe it wasn't breast cancer, but she was going to fight to raise awareness for the thing that took her mother from her.

She smiled as Jinx greeted her, and smiled even bigger when Aphrodite put in that SHE should be the first one to be groomed since SHE was the higher horse and pregnant. Some things never change, of that Rayne was sure, but she was glad she could finally see life in a different way, and it had been because of her mother, the one she had always admired her entire life, because of Aphrodite, who had bonded to her, and because of Jinx, which represented new life when death had occured....

As the horses were loaded onto the trailer, she thought back to what her mother had told her before she passed. "Never give up hope and always have faith. You will succeed at anything you do if you can remember that." A tear rolled down her cheek as she loaded Jinx into the trailer, pink halter on her face. She had faith that they would do well. She believed they would.

This show actually means a lot to me. My grandfather died from lung cancer in November and it was the hardest time in my life. My great grandmother died from breast cancer a few years ago, and this year, her husband finally met her in heaven. Cancer has taken loved ones from me, and I will do WHATEVER it takes, even just drawing a picture like this, or talking before a group of people, to make sure that people WILL help the fight against ALL forms of cancer and I will PRAY that one day a cure will be found
