Spike and Shale

This is Shale, Spike's long lost brother. Now I know the whole long lost sibling thing has been done to death, but I rather like this scenario. Here is the story. When Spike and Shale's eggs were being delivered to Canterlot, Shale's egg got lost along the way. However his egg wasn't destroyed, and instead wound up in the Diamond Dog's territory. His egg was found by a female diamond dog who had recently given birth to three pups, although one was stillborn. she discovered Shale's egg caught in-between some river rocks. Her maternal instinct took over and she brought the egg back. At first, her mate protested against it (and nearly mistook Shale's egg for dinner), but the mother won their argument and she cared for the egg. At first, the tribe was alarmed that a dragon hatched from the egg and nearly made her get rid of it. Yet the female's maternal instincts won out again, and Shale was adopted into the tribe

Years passed and Shale grew, learning the ways of the Diamond Dogs and hanging out with his adoptive siblings. He was told about how he was a dragon and a small part of him wondered about his kind. Yet he was happy with his adoptive family and simply viewed that his biological parents abandoned him. He often clashed with the Alpha diamond dog Rover, mostly out of a desire to become the Alpha male himself. In fact, after one such fight, Shale and his adoptive brothers went hunting. Little did he know, while he was gone, a dragon had paid a visit to their tunnels; and that dragon was his brother Spike.

As you can see above, Shale and Spike eventually meet one another.

Shale is a more serious in comparison to his brother and bit more mature to boot. Often he has a cynical attitude to certain things, mostly nonsense or silly things. However, he does like to rough house, especially with his adoptive brothers. One thing that stands out about his personality is that he is extremely loyal to his family. When he and Spike meet at last, they form a strong bond. Although he does find it a bit humiliating that his brother is a "pony pet". Living with canines, Shale has picked up a lot of their traits, mostly barking, growling, sniffing other's butts, chasing his tail, hating baths, digging in the dirt, and chasing cats and squirrels. Like his brother, he has a fondness for gems, but not for eating; for collecting.

Long bio and I probably missed a lot of things I could have added, but this is all I could think of.
