and I did, oh and how fiercely I did
the passion washed down the muscles
and the light dimmed itself with whispering
'save me, please' and oh boy, I did before I understood
we bought a house round the corner
with red vines snaking up the walls
I did a degree and he opened a shop
I told him 'look out for the ravens, love'
and he did, pulling down the blinds
I tried to decipher his dreams and hopes
for what use would have a direct question had
we danced in various ball rooms and drank champagne
I bore children while he worked day and night
we committed petty crimes and kept a pistol by the thigh
'kiss me like you ought to' I said, clutching at his hair
I did not have the strength I used to posses any more
with years cold bed ceased to entertain me as well as the blues
'you lack things I need' he spat in my face and run away
bringing everything I tore from within myself astray
I do not have the body he wishes to see at night
