Why U No Care about Friendship, Margaret?

Description

A very dramatic, very sad scene from Chapter 5 of my MLP FIM cartoon crossover story "Chaotic Order" [link]

It's the scene where after news of Twilight supposedly taken by Discord that ponies all over Equestria as well as friends outside of the kingdom are searching for the missing unicorn, Mordecai, especially. He's really scared of what Discord might do to Twilight, besides take away her horn. :icondiscolight: His fear of what the Spirit of Chaos and Disharmony might be doing to Twilight is just as worse as Mr. Baldwin's [link] :sniff:

He's not giving up, getting himself hurt trying to find his dear friend. Everypony and everybody is pitching in the rescue...except one. :(

Okay, look, Margaret fans, it's not that I hate her...but you got to admit, what Mordecai called her is pretty much accurate considering her constant 'fooling around' in the RS series and her on/off awareness of Mordecai's supposed crush on her.

And for her to simply tell him that Twilight missing shouldn't concern them, and she didn't think before she said that...Mordecai was pissed off enough she couldn't see his former feelings for her, now he's SUPER pissed that she could say that as well as harmony simply being nothing for them because they 'don't have magic'. :(

Margaret quietly hummed to herself as she poured more coffee into another customer's cup. It was her night shift at the cafe and Eileen's shift had ended a couple of hours ago. As soon as she was done, the red robin retreated back behind the counter and waited for new customers to come through the door.

However, it wasn't a customer that barged through the door.

"Mordecai?" She said in disbelief as the bluejay entered the diner.

He was a mess. His green Canterlot suit jacket was unbuttoned and wrinkled, his blonde hair was unruly, and there seemed to be bags under his eyes.

"Margaret!" Mordecai gasped as he rushed over and took his seat in front of her. "Holy cow, we have so many search parties in Equestria, but not one sign of Twilight or Discord anywhere!"

"Oh," Margaret said as she averted her eyes.

Mordecai looked at her, raising an eyebrow. "That's all you can say?" He asked. "Oh?"

"It's not that I don't care," Margaret assured him, "I just don't know what else to say."

"Say that as soon as your shift's over you resume helping us!" He insisted, cracking a worried smile. "Eileen joined in as soon as she was done working, and it'll be even better once you're there!"

Margaret swallowed hard, averting her eyes as she suddenly took a cloth and wiped the table. "Gee, I'm not sure, Mordecai..."

"What do you mean you're not sure?" He exclaimed. "Your boss didn't tell you to overwork, did he?"

"Uh, no," the red robin stated, "it's just that...well...I don't think it would make much difference."

As soon as those words escaped her mouth, Mordecai felt his heart plunge. "Not make much difference?" He repeated. "W-what do you mean?"

"I mean that maybe we don't have to do all this," Margaret told him gently, "that maybe we should just leave this to those ponies as I said before." She gave an apologetic look. "As I said before, we don't have magic. And all this..." She motioned to Mordecai. "Yeah, really too much for me right now."

"But, Margaret," Mordecai choked on his words, "this is Discord we're talking about! You met him!"

"Yes, we all did," she sighed , "but this matter about him shouldn't concern us at all...even the matter of Twilight."

As soon as she said that name, Margaret immediately regretted saying that. When she turned to look at Mordecai, she saw rage written all over his face, his blonde strands over his eyes made him look terrifying.

"Shouldn't concern us at all?" He demanded, his voice high and deadly.

"Mordecai..." She was stunned by his tone.

"How can you say that?" He shouted, causing other people in the diner to turn and stare at them.

"I didn't mean to put it that way," she insisted nervously, "I was just saying-"

"Saying that all of this magic business is completely unreal to you?" He demanded. "That Discord is simply something you've read in a mythical book and some crap like that? That Twilight being taken shouldn't concern us?" He glared daggers at the red robin. "Twilight is missing and Discord has probably kidnapped her!"

He slammed his fists on the table, making Margaret flinch as well as the customers around them.

"Holy crap, you are so stupid!" He shouted furiously as her, his blue face became red with rage.

Margaret's eyes widened by his statement, and she honestly felt hurt.

"Mordecai..." She spoke out softly.

"You know what?" He growled as he stood up from his seat. "Screw you. We'll continue the search and our little 'magic business' without you."

Before Margaret could get another word, Mordecai turned his back and marched out of the diner, leaving her with a guilty heart.
:sniff:
