Deviation Actions
For those of you who wish to showcase your horse's superiority either in the show ring or the breeding barn, the dA-IGGHR has a ranking system which allows you to do just that. Once you've tallied your horse's points, please post them in the comments section of your horse's main reference image.
Note that for the purpose of accumulating points, no coloring-book-style images (where you or someone else grabbed a line-art and colored it in) are accepted. Links to all relevant images must be provided in the artist's comments section of the deviation page.
Note also that no images can double in any categories! (So a show image can't also count as a training image, for example.)
For an example of how to count points, you can see my gelding, All That Glitters.
The points in each section are cumulative; for instance, in the Pedigree section, a single dA-IGGHR-registered Hall of Fame ancestor earns your horse 11.5 pedigree points total.
Tiers of Recognition
At least 25 Points: Register of Merit
At least 50 Points: High-Point
At least 75 Points: Register of Excellence
100 Points or more: Hall of Fame
Points Awarded
Pedigree:
(These points count only for the first three generations (parents, grandparents, and great-grandparents) of identifiable ancestors. Fictional horses who do not exist on deviantART don't count toward an applicant's pedigree points.) Real-life horses count towards this section because we like to have proof that a horse could realistically exist within the breed.
For each real-life ancestor in your horse's pedigree, add .25 points.
For each roleplayed ancestor in your horse's pedigree, add .5 points.
For each ancestor registered with the dA-IGGHR, add 1 point.
For each ancestor who has reached at least dA-IGGHR Register of Merit status, add 1 point.
For each ancestor who has reached at least dA-IGGHR High-Point status, add 2 points.
For each ancestor who has reached at least dA-IGGHR Register of Excellence status, add 3 points.
For each ancestor who has reached dA-IGGHR Hall of Fame status, add 4 points.
Shown Offspring:
(These points count only for offspring who have competed in at least one show.)
For each pure GG foundation breed offspring, add .25 points.
For each Georgian Grande offspring, add .5 points.
For each offspring registered with the dA-IGGHR, add .5 points.
For each offspring who has reached at least dA-IGGHR Register of Merit status, add .5 points.
For each offspring who has reached at least dA-IGGHR High-Point status, add 1 point.
For each offspring who has reached at least dA-IGGHR Register of Excellence status, add 1.5 points.
For each offspring who has reached dA-IGGHR Hall of Fame status, add 2 points.
Show Career:
(One entry image can count towards multiple classes in a single full* show.)
For each image in a mini-** or personal*** show, add 2 points, and do not add any further points for placings.
For each class entry in a full show, add 3 points.
For each third place award in a full show, add 2 points.
For each second place award in a full show, add 3 points.
For each first place award in a full show, add 4 points.
For each special award in a full show or from a breed/performance registry (Grand Champion, Reserve Grand Champion, Judge's Favorite, People's Favorite, Year-End Top Horse, etc.), add 5 points.
Miscellaneous:
For each training image, add 1 point.
For each non-training full-body image, add .5 points.
For each non-training partial-body image, add .25 points.
* A "full" show is a show hosted by another deviantART user, the prizes for which are not awarded predominantly by random chance.
** A "mini-show" is any show in which the prizes are awarded predominantly by random chance, and therefore one from which the prizes have no effect on dA-IGGHR points.
*** A "personal" show is a show made-up by the artist, in which no other deviantART users compete, and from which any prizes have no effect on dA-IGGHR points since they're awarded by the artist to him-/herself. Personal show entries may make up no more than 1/3 of any horse's competition history.
FINALIZED: Member poll regarding point system!
July 19th, 2015: The changes are now official! Thank you, everyone, for helping to craft a better point system. If you're the kind of person who keeps track of points, now would be the time to re-calculate your horses' point totals! Nobody should lose any points; points should only be gained under the changes. Also, I'll be adding new folders for the new tiers. Happy counting! =D
Follow-Up Question: So it seems like most of the feedback is either neutral or positive to this idea. I've changed the Point System and re-tallied Outlaw Star's points under the new system AS A TEST EXAMPLE. This change is not permanent, it's just to get feedback ab
[UPDATED 8/10] Make your own adventure! (Or not!)
All the comments so far have been positive, but we're stagnating -- so I'd like to refresh the conversation. Since nobody seems to be blatantly opposed to the idea, what if we try it out? Integrating my original proposition with what's been suggested by dA-IGGHR (https://www.deviantart.com/da-igghr) members, I've come up with this as a proposed change to the points rules:
Competition Points:
(One entry image can count towards multiple classes in a single full* show.)

IGGHR Rankings | Updated 11/12/2015
:new: November 12, 2015: We have an open spot on Foundies list! Comment if you think your horse should have it. =D
Here, we'll showcase the top ten Georgian Grandes, and the top ten foundation-breed horses. Rankings are assigned based on the dA-IGGHR (https://www.deviantart.com/da-igghr) Ranking System, so if you'd like your horse to be featured on this list, please calculate his/her points and note the group! =D
(Note that deceased horses don't have a place on the top 10 lists. They do, however, retain any titles they've won and will be kept in the appropriate galleries even after their passing.)

Accepted Colors
Just as a quick reference page, so y'all don't have to go sleuthing through the internet for evidence that your horse's coat color is possible for its breed, here's a list of acceptable coat colors and the pure breeds they correspond to. If you'd like the group to add your horse's breed to this list, or if you think we've gotten some color information wrong, please note us! Crossbred horses can sport colors from any of their ancestors' breeds, so we haven't included them here.
American Cream Draft:
American Cream Drafts come only in shades of chestnut, with champagne as the only acceptable modifier.
