#TUG is launching the great new "Draw My OC" folder!

The what?

The "Draw My OC" folder is a way of spreading gift art and happiness all around the world! Here's how it works.

Say that I wanted someone to draw my OC. I would go to the folder and click on the newest deviation in it—say it was TheSpunkyDoodler's. I would go to the artist's description and find the part that said, "Please draw my OC ______ who can be found here and here, and also in this folder."

Then I would comment on her picture, saying "I will draw your character! I forfeit my claim on March 5th." She would edit her artist's description so that everybody would know.

Next I would follow the links and draw TheSpunkyDoodler's OC. I would post it to TheUselessGroup before or on March 5th. If I didn't post it by then, somebody else could decide to draw her OC for the folder.

When I would post my picture, I would submit it to #TUG and tell her. In my artist's description, I would a) tell everyone how wonderful and amazing she is and b) ask for someone else to draw my OC. The chain of giftart would continue from there!

:bulletpurple::bulletpink::bulletpurple::bulletpink::bulletpurple::bulletpink::bulletpurple::bulletpink::bulletpurple::bulletpink::bulletpurple::bulletpink::bulletpurple::bulletpink:

So that's basically the process. Now that I've illustrated it, I'll tell you the rules, most of which are implicitly stated above.

:bulletpink: You must be a member of #TUG. (If you aren't, that's easy to solve.)

:bulletpurple: You must draw the OC requested by the last person who submitted to the folder.

:bulletpink: You must link to pictures of your OC in the artist's description. If you have a folder full of pictures, please link to that as well!

:bulletpurple: You must know how to draw. Sorry.

:bulletpink: When you comment to claim a picture, you must give an expiration date.

:bulletpurple: You can rescind your claim on an OC any time if you suddenly can't draw the OC.

:bulletpink: Your deadline may not be longer than 3 weeks from the day when you comment. We've got to keep the folder rolling! Please make your deadline as soon as you feel you can manage. :)

:bulletpurple: You need to put some time and effort into the picture, of course! See our guidelines here.

:bulletpink: There is no limit to how many times you can participate in the folder. All members and admins can participate! (Not a member? Go join!)

:bulletpurple: If you don't have any OCs but really love Naruto... That's okay; you can ask for him. You'll still need to give links, though—not everyone knows what Naruto looks like or what his personality is. :D You can also request for someone to draw you.

—> If you wish to use our notorious :bulletpurple::bulletpink: chain in your artist's description, just copy and paste this code:

:bulletpurple::bulletpink::bulletpurple::bulletpink::bulletpurple::bulletpink::bulletpurple::bulletpink::bulletpurple::bulletpink::bulletpurple::bulletpink::bulletpurple::bulletpink:

:bulletpurple::bulletpink::bulletpurple::bulletpink::bulletpurple::bulletpink::bulletpurple::bulletpink::bulletpurple::bulletpink::bulletpurple::bulletpink::bulletpurple::bulletpink:

Why do we have to claim pictures, and why must there be an expiration date on our claims?

Surprises are extra fun, but if we did this completely by surprise, we'd get an un-fun side effect: two people could draw the same OC. One person would post first, and then the other person would have drawn gift art without getting included in the folder. The chain would go on without them.

The claiming system eliminates that! The expiration date also makes sure that someone doesn't claim it and then never get around to drawing the gift art. The artist would be waiting and waiting, while activity in the folder would have ground to a halt.

So, when someone puts a claim on your art, please edit the artist's description and say "So-and-so has claimed my OC! His/her claim will expire on ______."

Here is an example!

:bulletpurple::bulletpink::bulletpurple::bulletpink::bulletpurple::bulletpink::bulletpurple::bulletpink::bulletpurple::bulletpink::bulletpurple::bulletpink::bulletpurple::bulletpink:

That's it! The folder is ready to roll. Feel free to jump in and have some fun!
