How Could You Turn Me Away?

Description

"A little girl walks solemnly down the dark street, sharp rain stinging her scraped hands, clothes soaked, stray cat in pursuit. She had fallen earlier, and put her hands out to break the fall, and now every drop of rain is like a needle being jammed into her hand. She stuffs her toy cat in the hood of her jacket, which is fairly dry, as it's covered by her hair. Clenching her teeth she jams her hands into her pockets and waits for the pain to subside. A few blocks down she stops and stares at the house they're in. The couple that lives here wants to adopt rather than have kids of their own. The lights are still on inside even though it must have been well past midnight. "Skya." The girl snaps her fingers and the cat following behind her trots back to her side. She walks up to the door and reaches for the metal knocker, but she can't reach it, even on tiptoe. Her knuckles still hurt from the fall, but she puts aside the stinging and knocks on the solid wood door. She takes a deep breath and swallows slowly as it opens..."

Dear Gandhi this took so long, well, three days really, but it feels like longer.

Working time~ approx. 9 hours
Layers~ 15

First actual picture of Talon-not exactly an OC... ahh, I can't explain it-and Skya, her cat. She's only six in this picture, but most of the time she'll be older. Make a ref later.

Talon (c)~Me
Skya (c)~Me

-EDIT-5~7~12-Fixed a little coloration problem by the inside wall and porch.

Oh gosh, where to start...You did a wonderful job on this! You have improved so much. I love what you did with perspective in the background, and the texture in the muddles, mud and rain make it look SO realistic. I'm also loving on the colors, that make you feel the tone of it.
A few tips though, Her body, as is the cats, isn't very proportional. I have problems with this, sometimes, too. I also suggest trying out shading a bit more. Also, some of the picture doesn't seem to be colored, by the wall. It may have been looked over a bit.
Other then that, this is amazing. Great job <3
