ABC: Arms (Origins)

What is this? I thought angrily as I shifted in my uncomfortably large bed, tangling my body in the heavy blankets I had covered myself with in attempt to block out the biting cold. This feeling.. this weight bearing down on my hollow chest. This ache that tormented my brittle soul.

It was as though I was drowning, and I was… In the memories of our life together. She was everything, my everything. No matter what happened, I knew I could go on with her by my side, in my arms. They ached for her, desperately wanting to be placed in their home around her waist. To pull her body close to mine. To cup her cheek once more as I pressed my lips to hers one last time.

This emptiness was something old, yet something new. Before I never would have known what I was missing… but when I finally found the thing my life was missing… her… I can't exist without her.

A single tear burned down my cheek as I shifted desperately trying to find some comfort in my plush bed. Why can't I sleep? I thought with a groan. Honestly, I knew what was wrong. I missed her. She belonged in my arms to remain until our days end. But her time would never align with mine. There wasn't enough time for us.
