Thunder Strike

Contest entry for a contest at . The theme was Knuckles using his Thunder Arrow attack from SA2 battle.
I'm not much of a contest person normally, but I liked the theme and thought it could be fun and challenging trying to draw something for it. Okay, I wanted to draw a whole picture full of lightening bolts, I'll admit it.

As you can see (I hope), Knuckles is holding a Master Emerald piece. It was not part of the contest's theme, but I found it a nice touch since Knuckles' stages in the game are about finding pieces of the shattered Emerald, and because I have a theory that Knuckles' special attacks use the power of the Master Emerald (just like Sonic or Shadow use the Chaos Emeralds to do timestops or teleports). That's also why some of the lightening bolts originate from the piece (at least, they're supposed to look like that).

At first, I had an entire wall and a floor, inspired by Death Chamber because it is my favorite Knuckles stage in SA2, but you can't see much of it anymore 'cause I put a lot of shadow everywhere for the sake of a bigger contrast. I felt the lightening bolts and the glowing Emerald piece just look a lot better that way.

Hope this picture turned out okay and you guys like it. If I have a chance winning something with it is actually not so important to me. It was fun drawing this and that's all I wanted.

Edit: I actually did win something with this. Second place (which I find great 'cause the winning entry was really, really awesome).
